Similar to how the Hawks moved Bickell aka Moulson and McCabe for a 2nd and 3rd |

You don't know what they will take or any other team as of now, any player can be moved if you add picks or a prospect to sweeten the deal. We can add to move him if they wanted to. |

Very true, you want him moved bad enough, you dangle the picks with him. |

You will have to give up a high end quality young player. Moulson's contract is worse than Bickell's in every way: term and cap hit. Maybe even NTCs too? Not sure about Moulson's clauses, if any.
But the cap hit is higher and the term is longer and Bickell is arguably just a more effective and valuable player. May need to package either McCabe or Reinhart. |

You don't need to package Reinhart, come on now. |

we are already pretty thin on prospects. i don't think we can give some away just to trade moulson. maybe it can be a throw in like legwand though |

There is a certain stink about it, isn't there? I just have a feeling that this isn't going to work out.

Maybe not, but who thought the Hawks would have to package Teuvo?
Teuvo is a young player with 1st line potential who already has some NHL experience under his belt. And as I said, Moulson's contract is worse than Bickell's. You'll need to give up a top prospect/NHL player with high potential.
The market has been set. |

It won't be the number 2 overall pick in the draft moving. |

Different situation, EVERYONE knows the Hawks are in cap hell, every year they lose a high end player to keep their core together. This doesn't affect other situations |

If the Sabres can't sign Jimmy Vesey I'm going to be an emotional wreck. I was so jubilant yesterday when WGR announced the deal, that I rushed online and ordered a custom Vesey #19 Sabres jersey in blue. If he goes to play for the filth known as Boston, I swear to god I'm going to light the jersey on fire while it's still on my body and repeatedly slam my smoldering fleshy pulp of a body into the mighty walls of Key Bank Place or whatever the hell the arena is named nowadays whilst taking the lord's name in vain..Okay maybe not..that's just me being dramatic...but still...I will be inconsolable and enter a state of uncontrollable depression and grief. It's unfortunate because I'm all out of meds and will need to resort to protistution to pay for my oncoming happy pill habit. The damn doctors stopped filling my scripts years ago. Please don't do this to me Jimmy. I love you. I love you Jimmy. |

I think GMTM did a solid to Nashville in helping save face for the Vesey situation. Could have waited till Aug 15. Yes I understand other teams could have put forth similar compensation for rights, but for whatever reason GMTM has high expected probability that he signs here. I don't think the 3rd is necessarily solely for the rights, which I believe he feels he will win, but offered it up to help Nashville save some face in this ugly situation.
Seems to fit the persona of GMTM that we read about and see - he has integrity and i think is why I suspect he is highly regarded in the GM community. I think the agents and players see this too and there is a desire to work with/for people like that. Of course having TP's $ doesn't hurt either. |

No denying the Hawks' cap issues reduce their leverage in any negotiation. But as stated, Moulson's contract is a looooooot worse than Bickell's. You're not as desperate to deal Moulson, but he is more of an albatross so it could even out in terms of what you would need to package to move him.
Bottom line is no team is willingly going to acquire a player that eats up $5M of their cap space for the next 3 years unless they have the proper incentive.
What would it take from the Rangers to throw in for you guys to accept Girardi in exchange for a 2nd and 3rd? Probably our top prospect. |
