$5.5 Million AAV for Anderson.
Wow good on him for getting that money - classic321
Uhhh, why not give the guy a bridge deal? I guess he deserved that for never playing a whole season in the NHL? and having good numbers behind a pretty good team?
Hope they scouted him better than they did Bernier, cause I remember many a Leafs fans saying how great Bernier was going to be.
Sharks gave Jones 3M a year. This seems like a more reasonable dollar for a guy in that point of his career.

I agree, let him earn it, although I doubt that is WD's way.
Miller will get the lion-share until he falters or is injured and then they will turn to Markstrom for more games. I don't really have a problem with that as I don't think either goalie is an improvement on each other and Miller has earned the leash. - belcherbd
I see them starting with the 50/50 split we ended the season on. As soon as one guy has a convincing enough wins advantage he will begin to get more starts. |

It's not about blowing up the team. It's about hanging on to picks, moving away expiring contracts at the deadline if you're out of the playoffs and signing guys shorter term in the summer.
Benning traded away two former 1st round picks within months of each other before either had turned 21.....patience. - golfingsince
Benning thinks Shink is a bust so he traded him for something useful. We got a solid top 4 young dman for McCann. Steep price but that's the market. I also think Shink will bust. If he turns out to be a star one day then Benning will look like an idiot. Let's circle back in 3-5 years |

Will be a good experience for him I'm sure, hopefully he makes it but the competition looks tough. - belcherbd
Either way it's nice to know he is on Hockey Canada's radar |

All these years and Schneider has still netted the best return
& to think Vancouver turned down more from Edmonton

I think one of the first thing WD does at the beginning of the season is publicly name Miller the starter. He won't want that distraction. |

My mistake. I thought he traded him for Granlund. |

If you were Markstrom would you test the open market? I think his agent has to be looking at all angles on this situation. |

Granlund is a fine bottom 6 player. Let's give more than a month before you brand him as useless? Just a thought |

So it's fair to label the 21 year old as a bust but we need to give the 23 year old time. OK |

I just find it odd that a team with top 6 issues trades out a guy that shows top 6 potential for yet another bottom 6 player. |

It did seem like an odd trade at the time and now as well. I suspect the rationale was that they thought they had similar upside while Granlund has a higher floor as a prospect. The thinking makes sense but the trade did seem rushed. I suppose they felt they were selling high on a prospect they didn't like. High being a relative term |

I just took it as Canucks management didn't like Shink |

I believe they said it was a collective agreement between the scouting staff. So no. |

Wheras I agree Granlund has a higher floor, I disagree on the upside. To me it seemed more like another "trying to advance the rebuild and make the playoffs" move. |

I think what they say to the public is one thing, what they say behind doors is another.
If they did in fact like him he would still be here and playing. |

Also Travis Green. Canucks brass values Green and they constantly seek his input on the prospects. I always follow Greens prospect comments and it appeared to me that he wasn't high on Shink. I was always disappoint my his commentary because like all Canuck fans I was hoping he would make the team one day |

This is how I saw the trade as well ...traded potential that still needed to develop for less upside but ready to play now |

I agree, I think the nucks felt they needed a centerman and Wiesbrod was familiar with Granlund. I also think they thought they were selling high on Shink although I have my doubts. |

I had to have a margarita at 3PM just to cool down. Wind was supposed to pick up but it's pretty much gone now. |

rushing development even though he was technically still on the first year of his entry level deal.

I wonder if we'll land Nash, and if so how much salary NYR will keep. Only a couple of years on his deal I think, he could be pretty much free. |

It's pretty much guaranteed at this point that money is going to Loui Erikkson |
