nashville made out here. Got a pick for nothing. good move for buffalo as well as they had numerous picks and you take a shot. clearly they weren't sold on wanting to wait until he becomes a free agent so they want to talk to him asap.
Not sure why anyone will guarantee him a spot in their top 6. What has he done
to earn that? My prediction is whoever he signs with he ends up in the
AHL by mid November.
Garth you have been telling everyone since April GMTM has had his eyes on him. Well isn't it safe to say that every other GM also had their eyes on him as well? Not like GMTM is outsmarting anyone here. - rinaldo
All this.
Spot on.
I'd like to see him in blue and gold, but if you're entering the season with someone like this being handed prime ice time, with no reason, well, that ain't good....
I have no problem with him earning the time, with a solid camp, preseason, and early on performance IF he does it and IF he even signs.....won't believe it till I see it. |

Yeah... uh... they didn't trade for him they traded for his rights which is owned by NAS not Vesey. Don't get me wrong, he can sign with them or wait until August 15th to sign with someone else. - ShayneCorsi
You're going to split hairs over wording like that? (frank) off. |

I was trolling the idiot you said Eichel told Vessey he was leaving right after his ELC |

Gotta love Toronto bloggers and their belief that every possible free agent wants to sign there and play there for the rest of their lives.
Anyway,
1. Vesey can only get the max $975,000 rookie contract.
2. He can max out at close to $2.4 million in performance bonuses (just reported by Paul Hamilton)
3. If he choses to play with someone he knows (Eichel), then so be it. Its up to him.
4. A 3rd round pick is not a large price to pay for exclusive negotiating rights.
5. If discussions do not go the Sabres way, then GMTM can trade those rights again before August 15th to Toronto or Boston, or whoever wants to be next at bat to talk to Vesey.
6. Also reported by Paul Hamilton, GMTM hasn't tried to call Vesey's agent yet, as he will be in town this week. This is not a shocking thing. I am sure they will be having some meeting(s) this weekend. There are two full months to talk, and I am sure it will happen sooner than later.
Here's to hoping that GMTM can get this done. I would like to see the line of Eichel, Reinhart, and Vesey and what they can do. Oh, and then the other possible top six line would be O'Reilly, Kane and Ennis (or if luck happens, Stamkos, Okposo, Backes, or other free agent).

I like what you've done here, but I'm going to disagree with #5.
Agent has (at least so far) been adamant that Vesey wants to wake up on August 15th as a free agent.
If Buffalo doesn't get to first base, I doubt other GMs will be lining up to lose draft picks for the right to blue balls.
Just my two cents. |

"Murray and the Sabres closed the show on the Vesey sweepstakes and now has the exclusive negotiating period to woo Vesey to Western New York."
@NICK_WKBW
Just received from Vesey's agent: "Jimmy's intent at this time has not changed and is prepared to become a free agent on August 15." #Sabres

Every quote coming out on this topic is strategically worded.....as it has to be.
Pay close attention to the words and how they are said......particularly "AT THIS TIME"
I think there is a good chance this was worded this way for a reason. Saying what the agent says lets them maintain the position they have stated all along about getting to August 15th while also giving them an out. The rights to the player were just traded for, so yes....... "AT THIS TIME" things have mot changed. But today, tomorrow, a week from now, July 1, etc.....they are all DIFFERENT TIMES so things can change.
Maybe I'm way off, but I think the wording is very important, especially when tampering charges are at risk.

this literally makes too much sense. the guy knows where he wants to play, and its either his hometown team or the organization that his brother plays for and dad works for.
this kid is not gonna feel guilty buffalo burned a 3rd, and I doubt his "best bud" LOL EIchel is gonna be able to convince him. he is gonna do what he feels right for himself and his family and if that place was buffalo, he would have signed right away - GardinerExpress
Can't be signed until July 1 |

Garth you honestly always act like you were the one breaking the news even when you weren't. The only one you got right and didn't steal from others to date is the ROR trade.
Vesey has been reported to go to Buffalo for a long time. We did not hear it here first. We didn't even hear about Stammer coming here first, that was tsn btw . |

So the way that the Boston media has mistreated Jimmy Hayes has heavily influenced the Vesey family. Looks like Vesey really is signing with Buffalo. |
