On another note, I like that we're using the 3rds as currency. Sure you can get a chance at a good player at the draft, but Vesey, even with only a chance at signing him, is the safer bet imo.

I was looking at some of the odds of third round picks and I think it is around 25% that they play 100 or more NHL games and around 5 - 10% (although that seems way too high) they make it as a top 6 forward or a top 4 defensemen.

So I agree, why not use them as currency to take a chance on something.
