Players are always going to get paid more than what they are worth in free agency.

Difference with Stamkos is you are adding the 2nd best goal scorer of the decade, in his prime and it only costs cap space.

I'd be weary of going above 11-12. But I think it's still worth it.

Even if he only scored 35 goals 70 points, adding him to Eichel + Reinhart on cheap ELC's would be similar to having 3 5mil forwards for at least 2 years.

I disagree. Paying your top guys are easy. Not being able to sign or re-sign good role players in that $2-$4M range is the hard part.
