My biggest fear is having Vesey and Stamkos turn us down, and having our big off-season moves be Kyle Okposo and Cam Fowler.

The point I originally raised was the taken out of context quote by Murray about the "best centerman". I said Stamkos isn't and listed 6 guys that are/will be better. And it just got whacky from there.

And somewhat tangentially related to that. With the "it's only an extra $2M". Ask Chicago if they'd take $2M in cap space about now. Or St. Louis.

The argument the pro-Stamkos guys say is "win now at all costs, F a couple of years down the road when we have to pay Jack, Samson, and hopefully Vesey." I say that the team doesn't need Stamkos at 12mil/ 7-8 years, other options are available, or can be created, that are almost as good as Stamkos, but cost the team a hell of a lot less in the long run. According to Cap Central, there are 10 teams who have 2 mill., or less (2 teams over the cap), in Cap room. There's opportunity there, as well as other teams that have needs, and want to trade.

Maybe not straight up but there might be something there where the sabres get the d-man and that teams 1st rounder. like 8 and something for Brodin and 15. Gives you your LHD and a pick high enough that you can get a player with top 6/top 4 upside. Not saying I would do this as Im not a huge Brodin fan but Im thinking thats what they might be interested.

I think you're the one who took it out of context, or rather too literally. He didn't really mean the best center out of all centers in the league. He meant if a guy wants to come to your team that is going to be the best center on your team, it doesn't matter if you are already deep with good centers, you get that guy and move someone out if necessary.

You think that in 1-2 years Stamkos is going to decline like Moulson has? He's only 26 right now. Moulson is 32. Pretty big age difference there.

I highly doubt that Stamkos is going to heavily decline at 28, but hey, what do I know.
