Start with Vesey, knock his freaking socks off, he completes the Eichel line, and is the Left winger that we NEED.
We NEED a LHD scorer, or a LHD, and a scoring RHD.
We NEED a 1B goalie that will push Lehner, or be there if Lehner gets hurt.
Stamkos doesn't fit, and doesn't allow us to make any other necessary moves that need to be made. - bobmack13
Vesey never played in the NHL yet.
I'm gonna trust the Sabres brass on the decisions of the team. What's the worse that can happen signing Stammer? What's the best that could happen. |

Pretty sure there's another guy that actually does that. Most teams have a financial guy that handles that end of things. They have to work with the GM in order to let them know exactly what there is to work with and all that. - HonkFortheGoose
Person B probably reports to Person A in this scenario. Front Office Management is all I meant. This seems rather ticky tack to even mention? wth |

Let's see in the next day if Murray will be able to swing a deal with the Jackets for the 3rd pick. |

Essentially that check will handcuff us, and I don't like being in handcuffs, unless my wife is doing the handcuffing. - bobmack13
So if they sign Stamkos to that and in 2 years our cap is in hell, are you going to actually be walking around in handcuffs? Because it's not a problem YOU will ever actually have to deal with in reality.
The front office is the team that will have to worry about how to work around it. I can guarantee to you this isn't something the entire front office team is taking lightly. There have probably been dozens of hours of deliberation about whether or not they can make it work. If they do indeed offer him that money and he signs, that means they have a plan in place and feel it's something they can handle. |

Stamkos' star power is blinding us from what this team really needs. Would it be cool to see him in a Sabres jersey? Absolutely, does it make sense going forward, no. There are plenty of hockey players that can put the puck in the net, we don't need the one that costs 12 mil for the rest of our lives. |

This team needs a guy that can score goals. Stamkos has proven he can do that at a high level. Not sure how much more obvious it could be. |

He made it seem like it wasn't worth it in his presser saying the jackets are not not trading #3.. he still trying? |

It's weird how much I hated Darcy, and now I'm thinking dollars, and term, lol. Again, I think Stamkos is great, but just not great for us. |

He is the second best goal scorer of the last 6 or so years.
Give it a rest.
He is EXACTLY what this team needs. Someone to freaking score goals.
You don't like the idea of paying him $12 million but guess what the only player it would really cost us is Evander Kane down the road. I am fine with that. |

What's the worst that could happen? Do you not follow sports? Spending big-money on a free agent in a cap era often (usually) ends up being a disaster. There is such a thing as too much.

Not nearly enough. Hartnell is still a decent player and his contract isn't that bad. |

Yes I was told, I'm going to the awards tonight and my uncle just called me to ask if I got the overnight package with my VIP tickets, I asked about Stamkos and he said " Absolutely the are going for him " he said Vesey " there confident but also cautious at the same time".
He said Murray will move up but only for the right deal, don't think he's interested in taking back a bad contract at this time. |

Yeah by tanking. He got Eichel. ROR went 25 straight games without a goal this year.
They need someone that can score. They can get one without given up assets. |

He's not exactly what we need, that's the problem. If guys need to be displaced in order to make him fit, and we aren't able to make other necessary moves because of no Cap room then...... |

I take that risk. He will put us closer to being a contender than hoping for the others to get us there in the future. |

Here's an idea. Sign Stamkos to 12M a year/ 7 years. don't protect him from expansion (Not the next one, the one after that) I'm of course assuming that there will be a second expansion in 7 years.
If not, you still have one of the best goal scorers in the league til he'd be 33. Not exactly over the hill. |

You should tell them that. They are TRYING to unload him and Tytuin like the plague. I agree. I think Hartnell is a very solid player but at the age of 34 with 3 more years at 4.5M.. he is going to hit a brick wall and be Moulson. Just don't know when. |

Not Free Agency, I think that free agency is the devil. Trades!!!! Contrary to what some may think, the O'Reilly trade was great, and just what we needed. The Jets trade was exactly what we needed at the time. Murray is more than capable of addressing needs outside of free agency. |

What do you mean by displaced?
You mean move ROR to the wing...which he has played almost his entire career? |
