I'd move Girgensons and Foligno and keep Ennis just to see if he can stay healthy. Before he got hurt he had the same numbers as his career average before the team started gelling. If he can get chemistry and stay on the ice (I hope) he can be a good complementary player. - Zschalberg

All i have to say is that Stamkos sucks.. he had 0 points in the playoffs this year and ended with a -1 rating.. that is not elite - IndianaSabresFan

I need a new blog can't take this anymore people say no thank you to an elite score that will guarantee you 40 goals or more an year .. Did hockey change how do you win games now do you just pass it back-and-forth ? - GERBE!!!75PTS
It did change and high-end offense-only guys don't win you cups. You're talking about 40 goals, not 70.

A new blog isn't going to change a thing especially since I would bet Stamkos is mentioned in it |

It could turn into a Pronger, Horton, or Clarkson contract in 3 years and we are F'D - JVince11
Pronger LTIR no cap ramifications
Horton LTIR no cap ramifications |

He'll get 12+, not 11.
As many have pointed out there are scores of players available right now. Once again, I'd take Stammer at 9. I'd take Nash (and not have to give up much to get him) for two years. I'll save 5ish mill a year in the short term and still have lots of money to spend in the future.
Is he is good as Stamkos? Of course not. But I get a damn good player and I still have all of my options in front of me. I also don't have to pretend that he can play defense at center (sorry, it matters) and I'll get other good players. - Slump Buster
He's completely mailed it in. He's not going to produce the same way he did 2 years ago and you're giving up assets to get him. You might be paying less but you're getting a lot less back as well.
36 points in 60 games. Not worth 8M and giving up assets. |

It is a perfect analogy in that (unlike the food analogy) we have a limited amount to spend and we don't need to get this particular player.
I hope we get him. I just think 12 mill a year is foolish. These kinds of signings are almost always regrettable. I am trying to think of similar FA signings that worked out even reasonably well for the team. - Slump Buster
Which ones are comparable?
We aren't talking about a 30 year old. We are talking about an elite goal scorer in his prime years. |

Even though their cap hits are $10.5m Toews and Kane are each getting $13.8 m each the next two seasons. That makes $12m look like a good deal. |

We're not building a team of Stamkos' though. We want 1. We have the 2 way players and the defensive players but we were dreadful in scoring last year and middle of the pack in defense. We need goals. Goal scorers get goals. |

Foligno would be okay if he knew his role. He wants to be the 2nd line power forward. He needs to embrace the 4th line role but he doesn't hit and loses battles. Until then, he's stuck in the middle. |

I'd trade ROR if it meant having Stamkos.
No one cries over the 7.5 mil O'Reilly is getting to score 20 goals, 60 points and take some face-offs. PLus we traded solid assets for that |

Exactly. The price of ROR is actually higher than Stamkos IMO and we're not even getting the same production. But he's great because he's already in the uniform |
