I think many fans are scared to take the plunge into greatness - homiedclown
It was still a high price to pay. It was worth it for them. Where we were I still don't know if I do the deal. Plus I still hate his face |

A) Who are those players, you keep mentioning "I can get players similar to Stamkos" yet no names have been mentioned.
B) What are you giving up to get those players? - ImThatGuy
I know right they say this (frank)ing poop all the time !!! and then they don't name players
Then five minutes later they name Patrick Kane |

I would not. It's the things O'Reilly does that do not show up on the score sheet that makes him a more complete player. Like a Toews, Drury, Kopitar type of player. - adambuffalo
Does Stamkos lie down and read a book when he puck leaves the offensive zone? Two way play is over rated. Stamkos scores goals in bunches. |

Agreed but
You put him in a top 6 of
Eichle
Reinhart
Stamkos
Vesey
Kane
I think that streaky issue becomes less of a factor. |

Exactly, and that proves my point. I can get a similar player for a lot less money. - Slump Buster
And they traded assets for him.
And Stamkos is a much better goal scorer than Kessel.
You are PROVING my point |

he also didn't show up on the score sheet with a goal for 25 straight games last year - homiedclown
Didn't he have like 22a in that same span though? Crosby only had 6g in the first 30 games and he is a goal scorer, right?

Nash was mentioned. For Kessel, Pitt ending up giving up the last pick in the first round for him and a decent (not great) prospect.
Do the math. If you gave up that same pick for a guy making 7 mill instead of 12, you've saved yourself 35 mill over 7 years.
I'd rather give up a second for Nash right now than commit 12 a year to this guy.

Stamkos career CF% 50.6
For those that don't know if above 50 a team controls play more often than not when Said player is on the ice.

You still wouldn't take Kessel after he was one of the main reasons they won the Cup. |

Crosby is not known as a goal scorer. Fun fact he only has one season of 40 plus goals. It so happened to be 51 but has never broken 40 other than that one season. |

No
They rolled 4 lines, played solid d, and had a backup catch fire.
They don't win with Fleury in net.........

last 5 years
Nash - 245 points - 330GP - .74PPG (32 Years old)
Stamkos - 330 points - 326GP - 1.01PPG (26 years old)
Not even close. Try again. |

Which is exactly why we should not get our panties in a jumble over a guy that at this point in his career is a 40 goal a year one-way player with health concerns (not just the clotting issue). |
|
|
|
So again how are you acquiring those guys? - ImThatGuy

As I said earlier, Stamkos is obviously superior to Nash. I am also saving 5 mill a year and not going to hate myself in 3 or 4 years. |
