Can you list me of those 28 guys who is available? I count one and that is Louis Eriksson, he misses more games and has more injury concerns than Stamkos.

No, I was pointing out that for some reason 40 is this magical number and that for a lot less money/risk you could get a very good player without a cartoonish contract.

Perry is 31 and is signed until he is 36. Would cost a ton to get in assets. Has an $8.65 million cap hit.

Nash is 32 signed 2 more years but had the worst season of his career and has a $7.8 million cap hit. Could be had for cheap but his production is garbage.

Hoffman is nowhere near the player Stamkos is PERIOD.

So if Sabres can't/don't sign Vesey by say July 10 and indications are he won't sign here, can we trade the negotiation rights?

So at most you are saving is 5MM and making the team weaker in the process.

Yes. But I don't see why anyone would at that point.

We traded for them now so that we could understand his intentions in signing with us in order to help build the roster. Other teams will have to build their rosters now knowing if they will have him and my guess is they will have to build based upon not having him

yes but most likely no one will trade for him as if he doesn't sign with us, it's pretty clear he wants to go to UFA

My guess is Toronto and Buffalo give him the best odds to hit his performance bonuses
