You mean you still won't trade hall for a much much lesser defender, Even if we throw in a few useless picks and prospects years away from potentially ever making any kind of middling impact !!??
This is why the oilers suck!!

Probably trying to buy the domain rights to PrettyLittleSkateMachine - DDM-Coga
do the analytics support that endeavor? |

I would do it. - Jeropotato
That was my thought. Part with only one good player and teams all but ready to compete. |

Hall is probably worth around a top 5-12 RD in the NHL. I don't think Hamonic quite makes that list. - RonPielep
I don't disagree in the slightest, but I'm really curious as to how you arrived at the span of "5-12" |

In a perfect world you get one of the top 5 dman in the league for Hall. Unfortunately in the real world that will never happen otherwise it would have happened already. GM's know how desperate the Oilers are for a top paring guy and they will continue to hold out until the Oilers cave. If they don't then they will have to hope their kids develop. I disagree with Hamonic will eventually be going there. It's not happening just like the isles aren't getting Hall |

Well I was going to say 5-10 but I think the 6-12 range is probably more realistic considering the premium for top D-men.
You have a list of the top 12 right shooting D-men? I'd be interested to see.
Some that come to mind: EK, Burns, Doughty, Pietrangelo, Letang, Subban, Carlsson, Weber (but that contract moves him down the list), Ekblad, Brodie, Faulk, Seabrook (again, contract , ![](https://hbcf.s3.amazonaws.com/images/emoticons/thumbsdown.gif) ), EJ, Stralman, Shattenkirk.
I think Faulk is a guy who fits well in that range. |

Shattenkirk would fit well in that 6-12 range too if he was re-signed to a good contract. |

Yes, they would certainly have to get him to sign long term. |

What would they have to add to a Hall trade to get McDonagh and Zuccarello out of New York? |

Yeah, but if we part with Hall for 2 d-men, and then lose one (or alternately Klefbom) in expansion, that would be a nightmare. Any trade for Hall needs to be for a top D, basically 1 for 1 (with bit parts from one side or the other to balance). Subban? |

Well, Ranger fans a couple days ago wanted the 4th overall and Draisaitl for McD alone, so...... |

Oilers would definitely have to add a 2nd to that. |

@Hall for Fowler
I believe Matheson suggested Hall for Fowler plus someone like Rakell. Just for further context. Still not great, but much closer. |
