Honestly I think yes, next year can be a make or break year for him. If he produces consistently in a top 6 role in the AHL then I think he will have a chance moving forward. If he can't do that then it will definitely be a big break year for him in terms of value. Not like it will be impossible for him to ever change (still young) just that his value will be severely diminished and he will be a much bigger project than expected.

Value Yes, career No, Like I said you might be right because I have a bad feeling about him as well but I have to give him some time for sure

It's a big year for him, but it's not like he's where Yakupov is.
- MaximumBone

No he isn't even close to where Yakupov is, MDC has a lot of catching up to do before he proves he belongs on an NHL roster. Yak has already proven that he has what it takes to make it in the NHL even if it is in a diminished role than expected.

Yeah career is anyone's guess but if he can't produce consistently at the AHL level next year then even in terms of career it's starting to become very, very unlikely. Especially unlikely that he will ever live up to his draft position (that ship has probably already sailed).

That is crazy. The word is that the writer breaking the story said it came from a couple sources. No word as to what else went with the trade but everyone is saying that the talks didn't last long. Rumors from the Islanders camp (no official statement I can find) is that they don't want to part with Hamonic even though they really want Hall. I have yet to hear anything from the Oilers side. Not sure who called about it but I am hearing that the talks were short. Oilers are pretty good about keeping things like this in house so this could be one of a hundred calls Chia has made. Who knows but I am hearing that the conversation did happen.

As I said that's my opinion. Hall at 6 vs Kane at 10.5? Plus I absolutely can't stand Kane. I would never want him on my team. Uber douche.

So I still don't think this is fair value but what about something like Shattenkirk, Sobotka and a conditional pick

Say the conditional pick is a lottery protected 1st rounder if Shatty plays out the year and leaves via free agency. It's a lesser pick if the Oilers trade him or if he signs in Edmonton.

For Hall? No no and no. Shattenkirk has expressed far too much interest in playing out East for him to even be a viable candidate to pursue- especially for Hall or Nuge.

Why do you think Hammer ends up in EDM in the end? Have you heard anything?

Feels inevitable to me because the personal troubles that forced him to request a trade arent actually resolved even if everybody is doing better at the moment and there's a need for the exact player type and position. Lots of trade history btwn the 2 clubs, East vs West so no in-conference trading. Plus where there's smoke there's usually fire. Even if Hall for Hamonic plus might not actually happen, it doesnt mean something else wont.

If that's the case you'll have no issue giving us Barrie for Reinhart.
