I still believe that trade happened. How was Homer the only person to not see L. Schenn's inability to play?
- MikesPillBottle

Most people believe bigger defenseman take longer to develop say until about age 23 or 24. Which was about the time he was coming here with a great person to hopefully mentor him in Pronger. Only Pronger never got healthy and thing didn't work out.

*On Stamkos... I keep hearing a "surprise team with Cup potential" is getting into the talks...that would require another MAJOR deal to happen since most if the top team are tapped out with regards to the Cap. The only Cup contender that isn't would be Nashville.

your a rumor site, name the freaking team and get some much needed cred back

- homiedclown

I suspect there'll be a number of "surprise" teams swoop in. Each more surprising than the last !

Having a team in Las Vegas is just a bad idea in every sense.

Serious question, so if you're a player in the NHL, are you allowed to go to a sports book in a casino and bet on your team? Its legal to bet on sports in Las Vegas....

- kindlyrick

Do you have any specific reasons why it's a bad idea?....or is this just a hunch?

Im pretty sure the Internet has basically made it legal to bet on sports or even gamble online.....this doesn't even get into the dozens of Indian casinos ever state now has. So, if you're questioning whether the legality of gambling in Las Veags should prohibit having a sports team, that ship sailed years ago since Vegas can hardly claim a monopoly on gambling any more.

5.2 AAV aint terrible for a goalie one year removed from being an all-star. If it was up to me, I would prefer they keep howard to be honest.

He stinks of Hiller, which...did not work out.

Stamkos to the Preds would be interesting since TN doesn't have state income tax either.

This is true. You can bet on anything, anytime, from anywhere in the world. You can bet before a game starts and you can bet in the middle of the game too. Odds change as events happen in the game. You could bet a dozen or more times on the same game - at different times - at different odds.

It is a wonderful world we are living in. You can bet on that!

Do Indian Gaming locations have sports books? I didn't think so. I know the Jersey Casinos only do horse racing currently as there is a US law about sports gaming only allowed in Nevada, Delaware, Montana and Oregon.

*The Flyers are being very aggressive I am told, especially when talking to other teams around the NHL.

Who else would they be aggressive with, the ice girls? I mean, they do deserve it...

The Flyers want to move up in the draft in the top 5 and if they can't they will work very hard to move a defensive prospect for a top 6 forward... I keep hearing talks with Edmonton regarding Yakupov or Eberle.

Ugh. Nobody is giving up much for Yak. And why would he be top 6 on the Flyers when he wasn't top 6 on the Oil?

Russian coach slams Yakupov, says his absence helped Russia medal at World Championship

That's the guy the Flyers need.

Yeah he doesn't really know anything about hockey. They asked him how he felt about the offside review rule and this was his answer:

"I don't know how to answer that question. I'm just a one dimensional goal scorer. I don't really know all that much about hockey. Really, I don't even know what offside means. I just gets the pucks and shoots the pucks towards the nets." - Stamkos

Is this a serious statement?? Hall for sanheim and cap relief?? You do realize that trades need to usually make sense for both teams right? Sanheim wouldn't even begin to start a conversation for hall and then you thinking philly throwing in a bad contract is gonna help?? BTW yakupov is a left shot and plays lw or rw. He is good when paired with a good centre, Edmonton just doesn't seem to do that consistently for some stupid reason.
- YELAK

This!! Thank you. "hey we will take your #1 RW, #1 overall pick, 30 goal scorer, still in his early prime for our average-at-best prospect BUT...you gotta take salary too.

I've been told by those in Stamkos' camp that money and playing close to - but not in - his hometown are his biggest motivating factors.

Everything said, this is a great year for goalies. Anderson was good but if the rumors are true there is Kruemp, Hutchinson, Bishop, Fleary, Reimer... bunch of options for the flames. They have a good build right now, especially if Bennet has a good year. I like where they are headed.

You think? I watch the Oil and I don't know what to make of Yak. The Oil haven't done much with him or given him many chances since his rookie year (where he was great). I think some team is going to get an amazingly skilled player and I think on a lot of teams he can fill out the second line wing.

Stamkos is a one-dimensional 40 goal score we don't need him

Nobody does really.

I think it is clear he ends in the ECHL, or the K.

This article is dated, but still factually correct. The "no income tax" thing has been misreported so many times it's comical. He still gets hammered at the 53% rate the rest of Canadians do earning over 200K. He may hide some, get some back, dodge a bullet here and there, but ultimately he's paying. Unless he's pulling a Gretz and renouncing his citizenship.
