But I agree. There hasn't been a chance for him to prove what he can do in the new system with the new players. He was the best player, by far, on a historically bad team. I'd like to see what he's got. Having said that if we can get Hoffman without overpaying and with a new contract then I'm all for it, but a guy who's 26 with 56G over the last 2 seasons won't come cheap.

The counter argument here is that being on a historically bad team helped his case. #1pp time he wouldn't normally recieve, tons of EV time most of the offensive strategies ran through him etc. would all inflate his stats. Having said that im not quick to get rid of him but if you can move him for a guy like Hoffman you do it no questions asked.

But at the same time I will say you're not wrong.

He has shown flashes but never took it to the next level and came out looking really really bad when it came to playing the system last season before he got hurt.

I just want better than Ennis for the top 6

Who knows, he may just want to actually talk to some other teams and get a feel for whats out there. Lots of reasons for him to stay in Tampa, grass isn't always greener.

I think there's a chess match going on and Yzerman is going to lose this one. It worked with Drouin but Stamkos holds all of the cards. If Bishop gets moved Stamkos stays but I don't see Bishop going anywhere for what the rumored price is.
