Anyone have any breaking fresh hot takes? - chilliard77
Not a hot take but a theory...
- Murray said if they trade the 8th overall pick for a young left shot defenceman he'd do it. But also said they would look to move back into the 1st round if that was the case.
- Second of all Murray said they are looking for someone to play the left side and if they have to get a right shot who can possibly play left they'd do it.
- Conversley Murray said if he get's too many of the same position he'd trade another player out of town.
- Finally Royce director of ameatur scouting said that 15 was where he sees a significant drop off in the draft and that if Murray does trade 8 he'd hope if we move back in the 1st it wouldn't be lowest that 15.
This brings me to a theory grounded on nothing but piecing together this info that Murray does this
To Minnesota
8th overall pick
Mark Pysyk
To Buffalo
RFA rights to Matthew Dumba
15th overall pick
Dumba is young and maybe he can play on the left side but he's definitely capable of playing top four minutes. Also we still get to pick in the top 15 threshold and Minnesota a cap strapped team doesn't have to try and sign Dumba to an extension.
Great rumor from a credible bruin fan that vesey to Buffalo is all but done. Says he's friends with Jimmy Hayes too who has had a bad experience playing in his hometown Boston and has advised him to play elsewhere (Buffalo).

Not sure why Hayes would bash his current team and not try and get a highly skilled player to come along with him

It's possible. Dumba is a decent young Dman, but not my first choice. I'd rather pick Nylander/Sergachev/Keller at 8 than trade down though.

Assuming we stay at #8, I hope we land one of the 2 D (Finn or Russian) or Nylander. Can you imagine the intensity of the rivalry with the Leafs in two years? Older bro vs younger bro and the top 2 (best) young American centreman.

I like Fowler, but the reason I don't want him is because if we do he's going to be expected be a top pair D, which he isn't. A top pair of Fowler/Risto scares me if we're trying to make the playoffs.
