as per @HackswithHaggs from CSN New England, he's hearing Jimmy Vesey's family is moving away from idea of Jimmy playing with hometown team

If I was blind to what OUR specific needs are.... I'd still take Mackinnon #1 overall. That dude is so stinkin talented. - JVince11
John touches on MacKinnon's consistency to be a premier player. After the 15+ games I've seen, I'd have to agree. This list can and will probably change in five years. My top 5 are today's views.

Mac's rookie year was better than Eichel's by a touch. He also joined a better team at the time of his draft.
I'd take MacK over Reinhart today... but Eichel and MacK are VERY, VERY close IMO. Eichel has a better balanced game to him but both of them have elite speed and playmaking ability.

He certainly hasn't been the game changer there that they expected him to be I think. He's not a slouch, but he can be eerily quiet at times (I have him my fantasy dynasty league). Some of why he may not be considered as high is he does tend to go about business pretty quietly as well whereas some of the other guys play a "louder" style game.

someone earlier posted "Great rumor from a credible bruin fan that vesey to Buffalo is all but done. Says he's friends with Jimmy Hayes too who has had a bad experience playing in his hometown Boston and has advised him to play elsewhere (Buffalo). "
Thats 0-2 against boston..hearing the fans are a little salty

I'm taking Eichel over Mak 10 days a week, no question. Over Reinhart, I think what they both fully develop into, will be similarly talented players.

Oh I hadn't heard that second part. Interesting that Hayes might have advised him against him. I would think that team has to see the tunnel is getting dark on their success with aging players but that still has to be a strong locker room I'd imagine.
But hey... all the better for us.
I'd be lying if I didn't say I've been playing with a create a player Vesey in NHL 16 for the past week on Eichel's wing.

Until I see ink on paper this is all just fans talking. Difference between these insiders and HockeyyInsiderrs are one works for a TV/radio/newspaper and one doesn't. Other than that they're both talking out their asses. When he signs then I'll believe it

let's hope. Less importantly, it'll shut those god damn MountMaples up and that douche bag Fred Toucher. (frank)ing wiener.
"Every player I talk to tells me Buffalo is the last place they'd ever want to play." yeah, (frank) you.
I feel ok he will be a number 2, much better than I did with myers at this point - homiedclown
I feel he's a top pairing guy. I would put him out there up 1 with a minute left. But he needs a good partner who can eat minutes and can play sound defensively. He doesn't need help with the offense but he needs someone he can trust so he can move the puck.

Maybe I need to watch MacK more consistently. I saw him play live in Colorado his rookie year and his speed was like everyone else was stuck in mud. He was just PHENOMAL to watch. It took my breath away. (Miller's final start as a Sabre in which he got chased and we lost like 7-1)
I saw Eichel play live this year against NYR when ROR was out and he was an amazing guy to watch and make passes to the center when other's weren't on his page... but it didn't take my breath away like MacK had.
