Ennis didn't do CRAP in this system even next to ROR on the top line then next to Eichel on the 2nd line from October to December before his concussion.

I wouldn't be bat an eye.

He had the same numbers as his career average on a team with a brand new system that only one player (ROR) was successful in to start. He wasn't as bad as the eye test showed and could have potentially gotten better as the year went on like many other players did.

Edit: They were a bit worse. .48 P/G this year v .61 P/G. So he did play worse. Still close to half a point a game when the whole team (sans ROR) was playing poorly. I'll stand by my statement.

His career avg is .606

That's the difference of 39.2 points and 49.69 over an 82 game season.

Hoffman is a natural LW which we need and was about 30 and 30 last year i believe

Ennis is a center which we're kinda abundant at, and is starting to worry people with injuries.

I think they are roughly the same age. no idea on contracts

29 G and 30 A for Hoffman but they score at pretty much the same rate and are close the to same age (months apart).

Hoffman is a RFA right now, I believe but at the end of the day he'll probably want Ennis money or similar.

I'm not hating on either player, don't know if some thought that. I guess I'm curious why we'd give up Ennis + anything for him. I understand the injury point but that is so fluky, Hoffman could end up with a concussion next season and Ennis never injured again (unlikely).

He could come back and have a career year or could come back and never be the same because of the concussion. Do you get something for him now not knowing which Ennis is coming back or roll the dice and hope he hasn't lost a step?

I see it this way, he is not a TM pick or style of player (smaller in size) and Hoffman is a TM pick and (a little bit) larger than Ennis.
