I was a huge fan of the Bend, but it was college life, had a lot of fun. Obviously it is not far from Chicago and could just hop on the train to get there and free for me to get into ND hockey games, but I did have to buy student tickets for the football season.
- doppelthat

yeah well i am sure for college it is different..

Why?

They have no contracts where salary is retained, each team is allowed 3, and a player is allowed to have salary retained twice.

- dadeadhead

Isn't there a limit to the % of contract retained?

i woudl prefer it be that we have too good of a defense so that he can't make to the big club regardless of his muscle
- IndianaSabresFan

I'd prefer that he's too good no matter how our defense is. That'd be the dream lol

If the Rangers want Stamkos they will figure out a way to make it work with or without us trading for Nash. It shouldn't effect either of our plans.

I'm in the minority but I believe Nash fits perfectly here for two years.

Add Nash and Vesey and this I a playoff top 6.

Nash to me is plan C.

Stamkos, Hall, then Nash. And I only want him if the price is cheap, well because I am a cheap person, haha.

Vrbata, Weber and Bartkowski will not be re-signed, according to Benning. #Canucks

Just underhanding that to everyone. Do with it as you will.

You could say that Stamkos isn't worth the $$ if he produces like he did last year too, but I am banking on him returning to the normal rather than the outlier.

He would be our version of Hossa for 2 years. Hossa hasn't scored more than 30 as a Hawk but has been great as a 3rd or 4th option

O'Reilly/Nash/Kane would be a great shut down line that could score like a top line

Yep - agreed. I'm in the minority that doesn't really want Stamkos due to the center position logjam. I'd prefer to not have the NYR retain salary and get him for a cheaper price (a 3rd??). His salary goes away when someone is ready to step up and we have to re-sign the kids. He'd still have to waive his nmc.

My offseason:

Draft Keller (replaces Nash in 2 years)
Trade a 3rd for Nash
Trade a 3rd and Girgs for Fowler (a 2nd if a 3rd isn't enough)
Sign Vesey
Sign Johnson as a back up goalie
Trade for Datsuks contract - we have the cap space, why not get a prospect to do so? This also sets up a bidding war between TOR.DET and NYR for Stamkos

A) Hossa is more than likely a HOFer, Nash isn't.
B) Hossa's worst season since his rookie year was last year at age 37
C) Nash has had 2 sub 40 point seasons in his last 3
D) IMO he's starting to break down
E) He's kind of an enigma come playoff time (which is the furthest thing Hossa is)
F) This is where he fits in as far as options go for this team IMO.
