Over the past 3 years, he's averaged 28 goals per year. If the lockout didn't happen, the average would be higher over 4 years.

Player A was acquired with a ton of assets and expected to be a top line LW. Player A had off ice issues. Player A still had off ice issues. Player A has never scored 40 goals. PLayer A has never made team Canada. Player A has never led the league in even strength goals.

PLayer B costs you very little, and has accomplished 10x more than player A

I feel like you're putting alot into his past performance. I don't see 32 and 33 year old Rick Nash getting 25 goals. When I watched him play this year he looked like he was done. I'm not saying he wasn't a good player but I've already got one overpriced veteran winger that doesn't produce like he used to from New York, not sure that I want to have a second. I'd rather have Ennis at that point.

Player B is no longer the same player he was when he accomplished anything. he is 32 years old... over paid.. and there is a reason why they are trying to move him.

I don't see how Ennis is appealing. He carries a 4 6 million cap hit, and no one, at the moment at least, knows if he can play, and what he will do once he returns.

Pretend your a GM, are you giving up anything substantial for a player with question marks? If Ennis and Hoffman's numbers are similar, why take the chance the player returning from a concussion?

Hoffman less body of work, requires a new contract that will probably be > Ennis $.

Ennis can play C/W, has a locked in $ amount for a couple years, and has produced the same as Hoffman when he's played.

Risk both ways, I agree more with Ennis, but that is why it would cost Ennis+.
