There's a serious lack of faith in Murray on this board. There is NO WAY that we are trading the #8 for Cam Freakin Fowler. In 9 hours I'll say "I told you so". Murray is a hockey mind, he's not stupid.

I think there is a serious chance Bob Murray has seen what TM has traded for other players he's wanted and is holding out to see if TM does the same for Fowler.

If that is the price, you pass and wait for trades before the expansion draft, there will be players had for picks.

I'm not saying that I think he will, I just wouldn't be surprised if he did.

Last year before the season I thought Girgensons was a member of the Sabres core and would still like to keep him as the 3rd line center but as we always say around this time and the trade deadline, you have to give up something to get something.

Why the (frank) would he trade the 8th for cam when you can have Faulk

It may be a decent deal value wise but its a horrible deal for us because it doesnt actually solve our need for a top pairing D. Yes hes an upgrade over gorges, most d-men under 30 are. End of the day, you'll need someone significantly better than him on the top pair if you want to contend.

Ha, proven what though? Cup winner? Norris winner? He's a nice middle pairing player, that's it. We already have our middle pairing set, we need a partner for Risto. We'll probably have our pick of 2 of the 3 top defensemen in the draft, we should just stick with making the pick.

Just telling you what's out there... National perspective seems to be vastly different from on here... Not sure why

Players like Girgensons can be found again much easier than the talent you tend to draft at #8 or even a decent LS D.

I've stated that Murray believes in quality over quantity and he stated that precisely in his draft press conference this week. Those who have complained about the big trades fixate on the numbers he fixates on the talent. That is why he is not trading pick number 8 for Fowler. Pick #8 is going to be a top 6 forward or top 2-3 D. He'll probably have no problem trading Girgs and Pysyk for Fowler because Fowler will improve the D and Larsson will be able to handle Girgs duties and finding another gritty, two way, third line center won't be hard like finding a LS D has been.
