The sabres are not trading the 8th for fowler. They want him bad. I heard earlier it is girgensons and pysyk or a 3rd for fowler - Buffalo39
Thank you for the update

If we get Fowler tomorrow, Stamkos is the top priority folks just found out. 12 mill they are ready to pay him. They want Fowler, Stamkos and Vesey and also another D man. Chad Johnson talk has started with maybe bringing him back. Get ready - SABRES 89

Could not agree more ............. I have no idea where all the hate came from out of the blue on Murray ........... like he's some loose cannon that tries to do stupid shiet. - fastek
I don't think anyone here has hate for Tim, but the concern stems from him sending a lot of assets for the Kane/Bogo deal, the Lehner deal, and the ROR deal. It just seems like Murray being willing to pay/overpay for what he wants is highly likely, and that's a tough pill to swallow if he wants Fowler and is truly willing to give up #8 to make that happen. |

Edit: Why else would they trade for him? Tomorrow everyone can negotiate with him. - GilPerreault11
Gives him 12M more on the contract is my guess. 8x12 is better than 7x12, as I don't think he will be getting a 12M/yr deal 7 years from now. |

Hey, Darcy sucked, but when he pulled the trigger he won his trades. Nobody could say that he ever overpaid. - sskkoo1
Darcy was a great GM for this team during that period of ownership .... period. |

I think it's Fowler and 30 for 8th and a player (Pysyk or Girgensons) the most likely - bluengold12
Thats probably it. Maybe pick 24. It wont be pysyk, they dont want d. Wouldnt shock me if they are trying for bailey or fasching too. Its a sellers market. You could call minnesota for one of their d but the cost is still the same, #8 plus?. Edmonton has extra lhd, maybe pysyk for davidson. Im sure everybody will be pissed if he does it, but we will be better and we will have filled a gaping hole. |

If we scored Fowler, Stamkos, Vesey, kept #8 and got Johnson back, this would be a very successful off season. Getting another top D would be the cherry on top.
I hope the $12 million is enough to convince him on Buffalo. I worry that he pulls a Lebron and goes back to Toronto to try and be "the man". Even the Pegula's unlimited $$ can't give a hometown Toronto boy that.

I am not blowing smoke. Barring a big trade they want to keep the 8th pick and it is between nylander and brown. They want to get rid of girgensons, ennis and pysyk. They bring in stamkos, fowler still leaves them with some money |

While I hope this is true, unfortunately he can't make a Stamkos or Vesey splash tomorrow. Has to wait until July 1 for both of those. However, can definitely make a splash with a big trade for a D man and great draft at #8

We might need to bring back Darcy as an assistant G.M. We can let Murray tell him what he wants, but when it comes to negotiating the price we send in Darcy to make the deal happen. - sskkoo1
The deals didnt happen with darcy. |

Totally agree ,pegula wants stamkos and he will overpay. What people dont undertsand ,to get a talent like stamkos ,you would have to give up,reinhart,a first, girgensons and guhle and that might not do it. So what if you overpay 2 to 4 million a year. That is gionta or a moulson contract who suck - Buffalo39
You pay Stamkos that much money and you are indeed getting rid of all those players you mentioned in a year or two. |

When he said they will trade for him, then does that give them TB's rights and enable them to sign him to 8 years like they can? - GilPerreault11
No you have to have the player for so long in order to do that. That is why O'Reilly deal was only 7 years. |

Those were all great trades for the team. Wouldn't take back ANY of them. So what's the issue with Murray again? |

Not true. The only team that can sign him for 8 is tampa. Had to acquire him before the deadline. If thats what you meant. |

That's great... I would love for them to keep the pick because there's just something about not having a pick when you're hosting the party that just feels wrong. If we traded it for a true #2 that would be totally understandable, but I want to see us selecting somewhere in round 1 tomorrow. But, I do like Nylander, first I've heard of interest in Brown though. |

The Leafs just traded a 1st and a 2nd for Anderson. None of those trades were tough for me to swallow. Trading pick number 21 after drafting around 13 for how long? and getting no dominant players made me say, see ya, it's nice to have a big, skilled goalie and now let's see what he can do. He looked good in the 20+ games he played last year. ROR was a great trade and I'm not getting into THAT other trade but I would do it again. Myers is nice and tall. |

Looking back, did he really over pay in any of those trades? None of the parts we moved out are lighting it up anywhere and don't appear to be anything special. ROR on the other hand looks to be exactly what some thought he would be and has outperformed what others thought he would top out at.
Lehner maybe but that is a few years away from even determining if it was.
Having said all that, if he trades #8 for Fowler I will want him canned within minutes of making the trade. |
|
|
|
I'd give up #8 straight up for Mattias Ekholm. |
