I don't think so. I think it means we have a lot of potential top 4 talent in the pipeline but no one that stands out as a potential partner for Risto long term. We have those guys on offense (although they've graduated to the pros). Not to mention the defensemen need time to mature so the earlier the better

Except the Oilers have been finishing in the top five for a lot more than just a couple of years.

Because this has been happening for longer than the Sabres have been rebuilding. The Sabres tore it down and are likely done from that perspective. When the Oilers got Hall the Sabres won the Northeast division. They went to the playoffs the year after, too. Hell, the team from that year to now has gone through 4 coaches, 2 GMs, had 2 owners, 2 playoff appearances and a whatever the hell we call Lafontaine. So it's been going on for so long that even Sabres bloggers, as bad as their team has been, are able to poke fun at it.

And to make the point even further, the only comment made was that Edmonton getting a top 5 pick isn't funny anymore. Because it isn't. He didn't even make fun of the team, he said that it's sad. It's sad that a franchise that had such highs has been so low for so long. No one likes to see it. It isn't fun to watch and poke fun at, it's gotten to the point where the league has started to root for the Oilers to pull themselves together.

So call him Garth all you want, but he's not wrong. I hope they pull it together and I feel like they will, but this is the 4th year of me saying that. I only said that about the Sabres last year.

Fair enough. I don't really care too much. It just confuses me how a team who just posted historically bad seasons can have a blogger who seriously acts like their poop doesn't stink and needs to throw mud at fellow bottom-dwellers (regardless whether the Oil have been bad for longer) to make themselves feel better.
