Source says Brian Campbell has serious interest in returning to #Blackhawks. Defenseman would have to agree to discounted contract. - bluengold12
if he wants his name on the cup one more time before retirement, thats not a bad path to go down...

Not sure if it's been discussed already, but the Hockey Writers have an article out stating that John Vogl of the Buffalo News said GMTM told him that the Sabres are targeting three players at #8, two of which are defensemen. |

after listening to gmtm's comments yesterday, i think its obvious he intends to pick a LHD at #8, the only thing that would preclude that is if tkachuck or dubois is still on the board which is highly unlikely. The fact that he publicly stated he would be willing to trade the pick for a LHD that they liked and is further along in development than you can get in the draft cemented it for me.
I wouldn't mind seeing them move up to #6 to make sure they can select the defenseman they covet the most.
As far as Stamkos is concerned, 12 mill is too much to pay in my opinion, but i try to look at the glass being half full. Either Stamkos is in our lineup next season, or we drive the price up and force Toronto to overpay for him the same way we made them overpay for their coach |

I took his comments as we're less likely to draft it and even more likely to trade it. If you want that top guy and want it soon the draft at 8 isn't the way to go. If you think we can wait 3 years then go for it. I think TM thinks we're ready to compete now. |

there was a nice interview with Kris Baker the other day and he mentioned that drafting a LHD might not actually be the best idea. we have more LHD prospects than we have right and there's no guarantee that #8 will play in the NHL this coming season. it make sense. We might be better off bringing Ghule up this year than dropping a kid straight out of the draft in to the lineup.

True BUY serge may actually be ready this year - he's that good seriously. Juovl and Chychrun have to add some strength |

Chances of TM taking a Rusky is about as likely as Scarlett Johansson going down on me tonight I feel like.
Never say never I guess but chances are not in my favor |

The next expansion team better come to the East, with a team being relocated from the East to the West.
The West always seems to get these expansion teams
Anaheim 1993
Nashville 1998
Atlanta 1999
Columbus 2000
Minnesota 2000
Las Vegas 2017
They have gotten the last 5 of 6 expansions. |

I agree that none of the defensmen in this draft are NHL ready, or any forward that would be available at #8 will be NHL ready either. I think Ghule will end up in Rochester this coming season. It would be nice if GMTM can find a workable trade to bolster our 'D' and speed up the process but with so many teams wanting to do the same thing it won't be easy. FA's goligoski and yandle are off the market now, brian campbell would be a good stop gap LHD if we could sign him for a few years while our youth developed but i don't see him wanting to come to a rebuilding team at this stage of his career.
So... I hope Mr Murray can work some magic in the next few days, it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds |

And they still need one more in the west if they want to balance the conferences (which I don't think is a priority). Quebec will probably be next, then who? Maybe Seattle?

Quebec should be next, and Florida or Carolina can move out West via relocation. I do not care where. But the West getting that many teams through expansion really is not fair to teams in the East. |

I don't think either one are going anywhere if Bettman has anything to say about that. |
