Ew are you serious? Why would we give up offense for not that big of a difference on defense? We were 26th in offense last year! 26th! We have like 3 prospects on offense who have ANY chance at NHL time so there's no way I want to give one of the better ones up. It's a mix of Girgensons, Pysyk, Ennis, 2nd or lower pick. Anything else and I don't want him. Defense was 16th last year, I can roll with that. - Zschalberg
You're acting like Fasching is a sure fire top6 guy
He's not
And we don't have 3 forward prospects that project as NHLers
We have at least 12
Only a couple look like they can be top6 guys...
But we already have 4 of our top6 locked in
Ennis, Vesey & Stamkos can all potentially fill those voids
And I personally like Bailey quite a bit
Plus, there's free agents that pop up every year too
I don't know that we're all set at forward,
But if we did trade Fasching it's not the end of the world by any means
We NEED a partner for Risto
That's #1 priority IMO
Doesn't have to be Fowler, but we gotta get someone better than Gorges |

I think the Leafs and Sabres are going to have an epic rivalry for years to come. |

I see people saying they don't want to give up Fasching but throw Girgensons name out there as a guy we could trade. Are these people saying Girgensons had one bad year and now he is less valuable than Fasching? I'm not buying it. - Pierceme69
Agreed. |

if you could make 10 mil per and have all kinds of pressure or make 12 per doing the same job with less pressure
what would you do? - homiedclown
Even if his contract is at $10 million per versus Buffalo's 12, he's still leaving money on the table. As was pointed out before, the endorsement money could very well exceed his salary in Toronto. It wouldn't come close in Buffalo. |

10 mil per. more pressure means more glory if you win. Plus its home...and a significantly better city *hides* - Sabresfan-365
I strongly disagree |

Its more Girgensons plays a position of strength for the Sabres and he doesn't seem to have a fit here. Fasching clearly does |

Taxes in Toronto plus living expenses etc should even it out |

Some players don't mind the pressure and actually thrive under it....
The other thing is, winning in Buffalo will never be as satisfying to Stamkos as winning in his hometown - a place that has sucked for 50yrs. He becomes a god here if he does and the team is looking pretty darn good with this new management in place (finally). |

Name one thing he's good at. Not okay, name one thing he's GOOD at.He's average at skating, scoring, passing, defense, etc. He's not good. Fasching has more offensive upside and is a bigger body. Girgensons just tries hard. |

For some reason he likes Barrie and Faulk was talked about a few weeks ago but that's been quite. Homie mentioned it started again but IMO, they don't move Faulk. We line up good with the Blues, Backus is gone as of now anyway and Girgensons can fill that roll. There is another D man that I don't have a name of as of yet. |

You're assuming he wants to be a god. The fact he prefers staying in Tampa would contradict that. |

disagree
anderson will look below average with leafs d for a year, left exposed to vegas and the team will muddle in the 80 point per year range for another decade |

i am not holding my breathe on him signing in buffalo.. but he could look at how things worked out with Kessel and think longer about going to somewhere else. - IndianaSabresFan
This Toronto team is nothing like the one Kessel played in....
Plus, Kessel was relied upon to be the top dog, that was a mistake. Stamkos, i would bet, likes seeing Matthews in Toronto (Just like he would like seeing Eichel in Buffalo). |

Fasching's skating still makes me question just how good he can be in the NHL
It has improved quite a bit...
But with the direction the NHL is headed,
He's still got a ways to go if he's gonna be a top6 guy
For the right offer,
I'd move him |

That counts for something...
Look I get what your saying...he had a DOWN down year...I'd just like to see if he had the ability to bounce back...if he doesn't...ship him out at the trade deadline.
I agree Fasching has a higher ceiling, but honestly I don't think he's ready for the NHL and could benefit from a season in Rochester like Reinhart did |

Housing market in Toronto is insane.
He will still get Canadian taxed |
