He was mentioned in today's blog too. Power forward, heavy shot, rose in rankings in 2nd half.

Just curious what you think about the progression with Marody, hopefully a bigger role next year.

Seems like Hextall is really loading up the oven and going to let these kids cook awhile.

Laczynski, Tanner RC – Lincoln Stars (USHL) 6’0.5", 190
HockeyProspect.com Ranking: 139

The Chicago Mission product was eligible for the 2015 NHL draft and had a solid rookie season in the USHL but a lack of consistency from night to night contributed to him being passed over on draft day. Upon completion of the 14/15 season, Laczyski worked hard in the gym and tacked on 15 lbs to his frame and it showed in his play this season where he was among the USHL points leaders all season long and was able to extend plays and stay on the puck better. Laczynski saw himself get traded from Chicago to Lincoln midway through the season but had no trouble continuing his PPG pace with his new team.

Laczynski is a silky handed center that see’s the offensive zone extremely well and has a knack for finding the open man. Tanner is a good skater to uses his speed well, seems to have another gear when entering the offensive zone and can get around defenders and takes it to the net. He possesses solid finishing ability with an accurate shot and willingness to battle in front for rebounds and garbage goals.

Tanner shows a decent 200 foot game where he tracks back into the play well, produces good back pressure and uses his stick well to clog up passing lanes. Laczynski will be off to Ohio State in the fall where more seasoning to his all around game is needed but Tanner possesses a good skill set and work ethic that could see him not getting passed over in this draft.

Quotable: “I like his skill, he has NHL hands. I like him below the dots. I think he excels there.” NHL Scout (April 2016)

We need wingers... Bad... I guess that's the position they'll fill through free agency.

these players are 3-4 years away from contributing usually anyways, todays needs arent filled with the draft unless you are drafting in the top 10

Salinitri was ranked 84th overall by NHL Central Scouting among North American skaters. He's a left-handed center standing 5'11, 170 pounds.

Salinitri has good speed which is also apparent with the puck on his stick. He can be creative with the puck and can make plays. He gains zone entry with his speed and possession. He can get in on the forecheck but needs to add strength to be more effective. He will not shy away from the physical game. He’s good defensively and won’t get caught cheating. He’s also a good penalty killer. Besides adding strength, his biggest need is to find more consistency in his game.

Easier for a center to move to wing, most young players with the most skills play center because they have a bigger impact.

Kuznetsov who some people wanted with our 2nd hasn't even been taken yet. Neither has Sokolov fwiw.

He'll come up small in big games though
- PhillySportsGuy

I have to say, the last 3 picks have been pretty good upside picks. Salintiri's stats are clouded by usage and playing on a poor offensive Sarnia team. For a late 6th, he's faster and more skilled than his stats indicate. Heck, Kyrou who went 35th was 2nd on the team with 51 points in 65 games.

I have a lot of players on my list to take a flyer on in the 7th. Good upside.

Players will be brought to training camp too. There's a lot of interesting players left.

JvR was drafted and played center, same with Marner. I personally don't see Marner as an NHL center.

I'd rather have a loaded center prospect list, to me its more flexibility.

Not horrible. Not great. From what little I've read I give him a B for day 2. Hexy seems to be system building more than anything. Didn't move up with any of the picks.

I think Sokolov would be a good pick here as he has the 'highest upside of any prospect outside of the 1st round.' According to the hockey writers. Poor conditioning and questions about motivation have seen him go unslected so far.
