375 days ago the Flyers had Pronger and Vinny signed for 3 more years. Anything is possible with the Coyotes in the league
- PhillySportsGuy

Yeah it's kind of a joke IMO and it a shady misuse of the current collective bargaining agreement/cap. Reason number 2344 that non hockey fans don't' take this league seriously.

This is not to slog Brind'Amour, who I think is awesome, but he wasn't even the best player on his own team most years, let alone a guy you think of as at the top of the NHL, in terms of league-wide stature during his era. He was one of the best two way players of his era, but I don't think that warrants a HoF nod.
- johndewar

Yeah, I love Rod. He was a great Captain, but is he a Hall of Famer? Ehhhh....

He'll probably get some votes because Francis is on the selection committee, (2 Selkes, a Stanley Cup and World Championship Gold help too) but I don't think he belongs in the Hall of Fame.

I don't think that's correct. He wasn't drafted out of the CHL, so he is eligible to play in the AHL before he turns 20, whether or not he plays in the CHL after being drafted.

I don't like that excuse/reason. There were injuries. Projecting numbers if there weren't injuries smells like rationalization because one "likes" the player and wants to see him in.*

*This is general commentary, not Mogilny specific.

- Scoob

I actually didn't like him for the better part of his career, and hated him as a Devil. But if Cam Neely and Pavel Bure can get in, then there's no reason that Erick Lindros and Alexander Mogilny shouldn't.

I was just using his injuries to say why he didn't achieve specific milestones, not as an excuse to his play.

18 other teams passed on Bellows...If he was so prolific then why was he still around? yes he's a good prospect, but its not like they passed on the next Brett Hull...several reporters in Philly seemed to fall in love with the guy. Why? because a Flyer scout said "all he does is score goals"...obviously 18 other GMS seemed to think there were better options.
My vote is Lindros deserves the HOF....forget the off ice stuff. On the ice performance... the guy deserves to go in.

Unfortunately that's the high-end going rate for a top 6 forward scoring 20-30 G and 50-60 points going into restricted free agency. I'd love to snag Schenn for 3 years at 4.5M per but I don't think that's going to happen. It'll likely be in the 5.25-5.75 range.

He has more value to the Preds than Schenn has to us Imo. so I think this sets Schenn to max at $5.5 but I hope we can still get him lower. Forsberg was preds leading point scorer back to back years as a 21 year old.

So is sportsmanship, yet the likes of Chris Pronger, Dino Ciccarelli, Scott Stevens, and Gordie Howe have all made it.

Great player when he wasn't hurt... but the draft posturing, the holdouts, the drama, the parents... a lot ammo for the voting committee.

JR just has a big mouth, and that's the only reason keeping him out. I dunno how long it will take for 88 to get in.

- Tomahawk

Obviously all of that is a factor, but his character on the ice, which is what should count the most, was not an issue.

Criteria for selecting a player according to the HHOF's website:

"Playing ability, sportsmanship, character and contributions to his or her team or teams and to the game of hockey in general."

I know. It's done quite often. "If [insert player name here] wasn't injured he'd have scored 500 goals in his career and by virtue of those goals surely would've lead the [insert his team's name here] to multiple Cups. Therefore, he should be in.

puh, I say.

But Brett Hull was drafted in the 6th round and was a prolific goal scorer his draft year. For every Brett Hull there are hundreds of "Who?".

Right, but I often wonder if it wasn't his parents who were being the richards and he simply didn't have the balls to stand up to them.
