I don't think the opinion of any insider matters - Burnside or Lawton. My guess is that Toronto and Buffalo will have fairly similar offers. It comes down to whether Stamkos wants to play in his hometown or not. Some guys would hate the idea and others would love it.

A lot of people seem to be automatically writing off any Canadian sponsorship dollars if he signs here. That's not true, he already has a bunch in Canada, and the Sabres are big into Southern Ontario as well. It obviously wouldn't be as much as if he signed in Toronto, but the 2 aren't mutually exclusive(signing and sponsorship money). I still think anything over $10M completely wrecks the cap. I know, I know, Chicago, but Chicago has Keith. We don't. And he makes the world of difference. His cap hit is ridiculously low($5.5M 23rd highest paid defenseman) considering his actual worth to the team.

I am 10000% confident Murray will go after other big fish... Not saying I want all these guys but I think there's a strong possilbity Murray will take a run at Okposo. My guess is he gets 6 or 6.5 mill per. I don't think he's worth it but he is good. There's also Boedker who will be a quick and skilled top six option but not someone who really is considered elite. Ladd can be an option especially if we get rid of Kane.
Trade options Nash - I get he has a big cap hit and is older but if we don't get Stamkos maybe Murray would be willing to take on that contract. Also the option of Eberle but I believe he will cost too much in a trade.

I think if Murray could get a combination of Ladd or Boedker and maybe a trade of Nash we could still be a very good team
