If we miss on Vesey and Stamkos:
Kane RoR Ennis
Girgs Eichel Reinhart
Foligno Larsson Gionta
Moulson Cal Dlo/Fasching?
Want Okposo at 6 for 5yr or roll with this? - RhinoFan
Roll with that. Just because we have money doesn't mean we have to waste. No long term deals needed outside of Stamkos, it's dead money if we do. |

Detroit is Detroit. Florida is good, Tampa is great, Montreal can be good and we are in an arms race with Toronto. Ottawa, well, f the sens. |

Whether we like it or not assuming Stamkos signs somewhere else (Better not be Toronto)
I am 10000% confident Murray will go after other big fish... Not saying I want all these guys but I think there's a strong possilbity Murray will take a run at Okposo. My guess is he gets 6 or 6.5 mill per. I don't think he's worth it but he is good. There's also Boedker who will be a quick and skilled top six option but not someone who really is considered elite. Ladd can be an option especially if we get rid of Kane.
Trade options Nash - I get he has a big cap hit and is older but if we don't get Stamkos maybe Murray would be willing to take on that contract. Also the option of Eberle but I believe he will cost too much in a trade.
I think if Murray could get a combination of Ladd or Boedker and maybe a trade of Nash we could still be a very good team
Ladd O'Riley Nash
Kane Eichel Reinhart
Foligno Girgensons Gionta
Moulson Larsson Deslauries - bluengold12
We are a wing and a 2D from becoming a playoff team ........... that's all there is to it.

Can't forget about Boston. Drafting guys who hate them and drafting guys in the first round where they come right out and say will only be a 3rd liner at best. Trading Dougie Hamilton for Zachary Senyshyn and 2 2nd round picks. |

What if the Sabres give Stamkos 10 million for 7 years with a 14 Million dollar signing bonus which would equal 12 million a year, but he gets that money up front the Cap Hit would be the same.
The next option I came up with is sign him for 7 years for the first two years at 14 million (crazy thought) and the next five years it would be 11 million a year, just in time to pay Eichel and Reinhart. Late night thoughts don't pick me apart to hard. |

Girgensons won't be in the top 6 or maybe not on the team that's why if no Stamkos his attention will turn to Okposo..............God help us. |

It was when the Rangers lost to the Bruins in the playoffs to go down 3-0. That's what I read in an article today. I'm too lazy to fact check, but the dates line up. Still funny though. |

Yes 2 million over the period of the contract which is 7 years, Which is 14? It would be crazy though, with Pegula I think it's possible |

They do, and he had it factored in. All of ROR's pay is signing bonus except $1M or $1.5M per year.
Edit: $1M http://www.generalfanager.com/players/588 His base pay this coming year is $1M with a $10M signing bonus. So $2M per year is peanuts.
Double edit: There was some grumbling around the time of the signing that he was circumventing the escrow payments that every NHL player has to pay. Right now it's ~16%. So ~16% of $1M is a hell of a lot less than ~16% of $11M. Granted they get most of it back, but if HRR falls short of expected they lose a portion of that so as to only get their percentage of HRR. It's all very complicated. |

What do you think about the other option? Could the Sabres afford a max contract on their roster for two years? |

Regardless of how u structure it,
The cap hit would be the same for every year
Example...
Year 1- $6mil salary, $3mil signing bonus
Year 2- $1mil salary
The cap hit for both years would be $5mil
It's total dollars divided by total years |
