I had huge optimism for Leino once he was signed. Realistically I don't think it was unfair to expect Stafford numbers. The (frank)ing guy couldn't even give us Hodgson numbers.

That Connolly thing was a (frank)ing joke too. Every UFA on the planet saw the bottom falling out on the Sabres. And I don't blame them. We were lucky to even have the ability to sign someone as beaten down as him.

Shaone Morrisonn. Stevie Montador (RIP). Rob (frank)ing Neidermayer? Christ.

That price tag is understandably massive. It'll come down though. Would be a great trade deadline acquisition, or a sign n trade or trade n sign piece prior to the expansion draft

Okposo has played the majority of his minutes with Frans Nielson.

Nielsen is a very good player as well. Obviously not Tavares level.

He absolutely had a few Stafford years. But three years in a row now, he's been playing at a top line wing level.

If we lose out on Stamkos and sign Okposo at 6 per this board will go nuclear.

Right, as the Islanders have become a deep team. As the team goes, Okposo goes. That's a passenger, not a driver. For 6.5-7 mil for 6-7 years that's not worth it IMO.

I won't hate the signing if it happens, but I think it would be less than ideal

I'll play along with this though, and raise you. Even though the Islanders were a bad team three years ago and Kyle still wildly succeeded, do you really see the Sabres being that bad for the foreseeable future? This team is heading in one direction, and that's up. With or without Stamkos.

Okposo is exactly the type of guy you add at the trade deadline for a playoff run. Committing to him long term at this point makes zero sense to me.
