A growing buzz in some NHL circles that high profile FAs (Babcock last year) and Stamkos are using Sabres as a 'leverage' for better deals
Hope this isn't the case.... |

Big if, but if:
Moulson, Ennis and Girgs all prove they can play hockey
Kane stays out of jail and on the ice
And all our young d take steps forward, or at least don't regress,
We are a playoff team even without Vesey or Stamkos. Are we a deep playoff team? No, but we get our feet wet. Jack and Sam are going to be f'ing stars in this league and it won't be long imo. |

And you will defend him no matter what because he is a Sabre. We get it - sbroads24
Or perhaps because the only thing he has actually done is show up late for 1 practice for being hung over. |

You know, there is a potential for this, unlike with Babcock though I'm happy to do it to the Leafs this time. If we can sign him great, if we find out that he is 100% TO, offer 12, make the Leafs go over the top of that and sign 2 good players for that price. Solid win in my books IF we miss out on the "big fish". |

I don't think anyone of us does. I think what we care about is the inevitable suspension, injury, or becoming the locker room cancer that comes with it.
It effects him on ice - sbroads24
This is really his last best chance this year to prove he can play at that high level. Hopefully he breaks out. |

I figured this as much. It is what it is, but for some reason buffalo just cant seem to get over the hump when it comes to the idea of playing here.
We shall see. Murray has a lot of work to do to make this team to a playoff contender. |

Which caused him to get suspended. The team is not happy with him, mgmt or players, I can all but guarantee that. |

I can't be supportive of us going after him for 12 Million because he's worth it, like I am, and then be okay with Toronto signing him for 12 because it's too expensive. That's the perfect example of "We didn't get him, I never wanted him anyways".
If it's true that we're just spinning our wheels and now being used then it's a stark reminder that you can build a building and put money into a team but at the end of the day you're still Buffalo, NY. |

A few years ago when he had a concussion, people were convinced it was from a bar fight. It's a theme. But whatever, who cares at this point. |

i read a couple articles about how everyone loved the draft event and how it was very well put together. also about how it should lead to more events like this in Buffalo. it may take some time but i think the city is starting to fix its reputation.

I would assume all FA do this(and they should). It was just that all the Babs stuff got leaked all over the place that made it obvious buffalo was the team raising the bid |

Why should this be a surprise to anyone? Of course that's what they are going to do. Owners like Pegula are goldmines to agents and the players association. If you had multiple job offers you would be an absolute idiot not to try and negotiate the best possible compensation. |

Murray is going to have to overpay in the trade market if he wants to make this team competitive.
We need a top 6 forward and a Top 4 d-man
If we lost out on both Stamkos and Vesey I see a lot of bans coming. |

You still see no trade lists with Buffalo on them. It's unfortunate but it's true and it's not too hard to see why. You have cities like New York, Chicago, LA and people want to go there and they have things that we don't have. I know Buffalo is great but it's great for us. From an outside perspective it's hard to understand what is good about it. Once people do come here they love it but our champion of the NFL, Jim Kelly, decided he'd rather play in the USFL than play here and it took the league folding up before he would come here. Once he got here obviously he stayed but that's the challenge we have and will have forever. |

i think this may go back to the saying.. "a man can building a million bridges and suck one duck. but he will always be know as a duck sucker and not a bridge builder"
buffalo was on the downfall and the team was known for being cheap for too long. It will take a lot of time to overcome those two issues. |

If they can make the combine a staple in Buffalo, it will go a long way.
Next try and focus on USA hockey and make that transition to Buffalo. A tall order but it would jump start the resurgence. |

I really think it has less to do with the team and more to do with the city. I get it, we love it, but it's really nothing special and compared to a lot of places it's a lot worse. We have more decayed buildings than we do people and it's not the marquee destination. |

I love Buffalo, it is where i grew up, but i can absolutely see this being true. Buffalo the city has a bad rap, and as was mentioned, the Team was known for being Cheap and stingy. Darcy was also very disliked from what people say. |
