McDavid demandes a trade, Crosby retires, and Carey Price switches to playing wing. |

Nashville is in for a big hurt in a few years:

If this were to happen, is the cap hit moveable, like Datsyuk, Pronger, and Savard? If history tells us anything, there's always a team looking to get to the cap floor and willing to take it on. |

I don't see Weber retiring early... demand a trade maybe - Havic3814
I absolutely can. With his style he just may not have it at 35-36 years old. He'll be making squat at the end of his deal. |

I don't believe it is since Nasvhille no longer has Shea Weber and you cant trade a cap Recapture, I don't think. |

It's a crappy situation for Nashville, but what could they do? The only thing that would have prevented that from happening would have been to sign him prior to July 1st so he couldn't get an offer sheet, and that's not always something a player will do.

Started back reading the comments from around 4pm yesterday. Of course Stamkos and the trades were the big news, but how about Seth Jones signing for 6 years $32.4m? I think that is a great deal and we should offer Risto the same exact deal. Does anyone think it should be more/less? I think that really set the bar. |

You could be right, but I'm not sure how it works with the recapture penalty. None of those guys were designated to have that type of contract (at the time). It's a newer concept. And Datsyuk isn't retired, he's just playing in the KHL now. |

I have no idea what the answer to that question is, which is why I asked it. It wouldn't surprise me either way. |

Not to mention the last 4 years of his deal only pays him $6MM dollars.

Right, but all he has to do is "not retire". If he doesn't "have it", I would imagine he would force the Canadiens to buy him out. It's only if he voluntarily leaves that it becomes an issue. |

Sounds to me that Chiarelli was dead set on trading Hall to the team that would give him its best defenseman. |

not much incentive for him to keep playing if he is physically breaking down |
