All of the NHL people say that he wants 7M. He played 2 years ago with Tavares and posted above average numbers. He played with Nielson on the 2nd line this year and posted slightly less numbers.
He is not a two way forward. Doesn't not seem to be worth the big pay day.
That is my 2 cents. - JVince11
I don't think that we need to sign F/As, just to sign them. Better options via trade.
Oh, and F# Okposo. |

Plan E for me is Nash.
He should be a last resort move IMO. - dadeadhead
Depends on his price, for me. You would have thought he'd be moved sooner if he was as cheap as some people think he is. But I doubt it.
Maybe he gets moved after a few big FA's get signed. |

Does the Stamkos contract influence Okposo's future contract? I think it might have some impact, not enough impact, but SOME.
I also think his contract will be hurt by the amount that cap went up this year, which was minimal. I would do a 5yr 30M contract MAX for Okposo. I can stomach paying him more than O'Reilly... it looks bad |

I'd rather bring back McGinn if we have to sign a F/A. |

If I had to guess...
I bet we get one of these UFA wingers (Okposo, Brouwer, or McGinn) ... and then sign Vesey.
If we do make a trade at this point.. I will be a little surprised. I'd bet we only make a trade for a winger if GMTM feels like we won't get Vesey.
Not sure where Fowler would even fit in because he is no better suited to be a top pair option with Risto than Kulikov or McCabe is. Risto, Kulikov, Bogo, and McCabe are all quality top 4 guys so who goes to a 5-6 job if you add another?? - JVince11
If we can't see something that is obvious I would just wait until we get a clearer picture of who is in trouble protecting guys in the expansion draft. Love to have Vesey, Okposo isn't bad but likely more money than he is worth. Waiting always sucks but it may be the best option right now.

His price tag is high at 7 million. That's without a doubt.
Okposo doesn't deserve top salary because of his lack of defensive acumen.
Is he a good player though? Absolutely. He can score, which this team lacks the ability to do. Maybe next year brings better results, but who knows. He has posted well the past 3 years straight with AND without JT.
People who say he sucks stinks scrub are blindly looking at his payday instead of his on ice performance. He doesn't suck stink scrub, he wants to be paid for his offense. Different teams value his offensive ability differently. And I'm curious to see how he plays out. |

Trade for Kucherov.
Then if you don't trade for Kucherov, trade for Kucherov.
After that, if you don't trade for Kucherov, trade for Kucherov.
Apply steps 1-3 until success. |

Vanek for Plan F - feetontheair22
I'd almost take a flyer on Vanek over Nash.
Vanek you give nothing up for, can be had on the cheap(1yr $4 mil IMO), and IMO he should've never went to Minny. Their system was never suited for his style of play.
He'd still be a good fit in Detroit.
Nash you have to move assets and has a huge hit for a guy that might score again. |

Not quite sure I understand what he has to do with Helm.
Helm has speed and can play all aspects, PP, PK. |

I never once said he was a bad player. |

We need both a RW and a LW for the top 6. Who is most appealing in either trade or free agency that we could plug in there? - mhp
Would you take a run at Darren Helm or Brett Connolly? |

I'd like both honestly.
Again the 3rd line would need the fat trimmed.
Helm/28-Larsson/B. Connolly would be a fun line. |

That misplaces:
Girgensons
Foligno
Gionta
A lot of trimming there. |
