Terrific.
So lets spend just to spend then.
There isn't a UFA out there right now worth a protect spot IMO.
They could pull an Islanders move like they did with Boychuk and Leddy. Let teams blow their wads and poach good players off of them on the cheap. - dadeadhead
Agreed. Vesey needs to be #1 priority, followed by a depth D man and depth forward
Helm, Stahlberg, Connolly a few with speed for bottom 6. |

Stempniak at 1 year 2 mil.
IMO you are going to see vets like him take 1 yr deals for more cash.
Teams will offer this to make the expansion draft protect list easy as a player must have term left. - dadeadhead
Good point!
I would take Stempniak over McGinn for a year anyway |

Ya only for a certain amount of time. Then they make a trade. - Carubba-Kaleta
They have to be cap compliant by the start of the season.
You will see these teams do this mid August.
July 1st- 10th UFA frenzy
11th-31st a huge lull
Aug 1st-15th unplug cause ain't nothing happening
16th-Labor Day Trades PTO's offered
This is the summer every year. |

Nope.
Their big 3 are
Stamkos(signed)
Kucherov
Hedman
You will see other parts moved (like Chicago) for picks and plug in players. Also you will start to see those aging yet still good UFA vets sign on the cheap to go there. - dadeadhead
So have they cooled off on guys like Palat and Tyler Johnson? I know they were both highly regarded at one point but if they started to view those players as replaceable then I see what you're saying. |

If Vesey signs we have options.
I say try Franson for Nash. They save 4 mil this year, all 7.8 year after. They also need a RD.
Then dangle Ennis or Girgensons + for a younger D man that maybe has some upside |

Saad was highly regarded too.
3 top paid guys
3-4 guys in that 5-5.9 range
3-4 guys on 4-4.9 contracts but play above pay
The rest vet min, ELC, minimal guys in that 2-3 range. |

I would rather sign Stempniak to a 2 year deal than sign McGinn to a 4 year deal - Stripes77
That would be a good move also. I'd favor a Mcginn move if under 4.5 and 5 years.
Stempniak for 2 would good, just not as good to me. |

I am all for that

I doubt NY is.
They want the cap space.

How about we take Bishop and Carle off their hands. They also include Kucherov and Nesterov to Buffalo.
We give them back Ennis a 2nd and 3rd rounder possibly a Baptiste.

I want one more year of both before getting so loose with them. Can't help feeling their value has to be more, possibly much more. Maybe it's just the homer in me. |

Not a chance.
If they move Bishop they don't have to worry about losing Kucherov |

IMO they need to wait it out.
Let teams blow their wads and poach the roster.
They can wait on Nash IMO as I feel they'll be able to get him at a cheaper rate as the summer goes on. |

It seems like the Stamkos deal and Kucherov needing a contract is going to make someone in Tampa available. Drouin would be good and fits the mold. How bout Tyler Johnson? - Hatboro_Swords
Someone has to go..They have a lot of contracts that need to be renewed. Other than Bishop, I would take any of their guys. |

I don't think they're worrying either way.
My guess 8 yrs 7-7.5, Hedman comes in at the same.
They move 2 of Filppula, Carle, or Harrison. |

I'm not disagreeing with you, I see what you're saying.
I know Palat and Tyler cooled off this past year compared to the previous but at the end of the 2014-2015 some people thought both of those guys would be $6mil+ guys and there was no way they'd be able to make Palat, Tyler, Stamkos, and Kuch work.
All of those guys produced at a higher rate than Saad, even if Saad was highly regarded. If those guys rebound a bit, they're probably losing one of those point producers for little to nothing. |
