Thats why they are cowards, go somewhere they can hide instead of embracing it. Oh well, can't miss what you never had. - rebel
I guess with no Stammer to Toronto you have to go back on the Viagra now |

No one cares if you like them or not, just a fact: TB is a Football market. Don't take offense, but it's the truth. Just saying! |

Good one! Very creative.
Actually we have Austin Matthews, a good ole Yank who WANTS to play in the biggest Hockey market and embraces it! |

Tavares in two years to Toronto then?
Hahaha just kidding. - Steven_Dean
I wish you were, sadly we will see posts like this a million more times in the next two years. I remember when Nash was nearing UFA status he was a shoe in to come home to Toronto then we all know how much we heard about Stamkos and sitting nicely in the wings to take over this sits Taveras.

When you put your hope that maybe a star player will come your way, you are just kidding yourself. Draft, develop and build your team is the way to keep your own stars.
Let's face it, no pressure in TB. But TO, or Buf or DET he'd have real pressure, constantly. He doesn't want it, wants to sit in the sun and not be bothered. He's talking the easy road. After Ben Bishop is traded say good bye to that cup run. He is more valuable to the Bolts than Stamkos as last year proved. |

I like sitting in the sun too! He likely doesn't want to pay the taxes and play on a non-competitive team for 3 years at best. |

I would have loved him in Toronto, the lengths he would have moved our rebuild forward would have been insane. Great day for Tampa, they have their captain locked in at a decent cap hit.
As bummed as I am he won't be a leaf, it speaks volumes of stamkos character to resign in Tampa. Clearly, winning a cup with the organization he grew up with was the determining factor. |

Oh mitch, that is real original. Bet you have a barbed wire tattoo as well. Lol
Listen good for you and Bolts fans. I have no issue with him resigning in TB, but it is obvious that he wasn't ready up to playing in TO with all the attention he would get.
But let's be real here, Bolts played pretty well without him most of the year. But without Ben Bishop, well that's a different story. So if Bishop is not retained i don't think TB is as good a team. So enjoy SS, but good luck keeping the puck out of the net. |

I love how all the Toronto fans are saying he didn't go there because he couldn't handle the pressure. Maybe he chose Tampa because 2 years ago we played for a cup, last year we went to game 7 of the conference finals, and we did that with an incredibly young core vs Toronto, who sucks. I mean, sucks. As far as the Bishop thing, yeah, it's not like we have the number one goalie prospect in the world or anything. |

Ya know, I'm actually a bit surprised here. This dragged out a long time, and I think clearly Toronto must have been at least a very tempting offer... I bet this was a pretty hard decision. I kinda figured he was Toronto-bound with each passing day. Whatever pitch Toronto management made to him, it just wasn't enough--and I don't think Toronto can really look at this as anything other than a huge missed opportunity. He would have been the icing on what has been a fantastic year, and a huge boost to our team. |

Obviously.
But like i said, can't miss what you never had. Good luck to him and I hope he can stay healthy. Great player, would have loved to see him in TO, but not worth jeopardizing the plan for one player.
It is interesting though to see yet another Canadian player run away from playing in Canada. Say what you want about PK, but he certainly loved the brights lights of being in Montreal. More Canadian players should feel the same way about playing in their home country instead of choosing obscurity in a non hockey market. But that is probably the only thing that actually bothers me about this. But oh well. It is what it is.
Anyway, good day if you are a Bolts Fan. I'm happy for you, and that is an honest statement. |
