How does it make sense for Tampa to trade Bishop to Dallas and get one of their two goalies in return? The reason to trade Bishop is to clear up cap space for Kucherov and Hedman as well as to not lose him in the expansion draft for free. You get one of the two Dallas goalies back you cleared up hardly any cap space, makes zero sense unless Tampa can flip that goalie but I don't see that happening.

It's how it is going to go down. Take Niemi back and expose him at expansion draft. Dallas needs Bish but Dallas also can't carry Niemi, Lehtonen, and Bishop. That would be cap suicide

Maybe Trouba just wants out of WIN ? if gone and signs a reasonable deal then that's what he wanted, just like Hamilton wanted out of BOS....

Tampa takes a goalie back because they only intend on protecting one in the expansion draft. The Dallas take-back clearly isn't getting protected. It's not that big of a stretch.

Surely there would have to be some other cap relief for the Lightning...they really have no reason to take on niemi or lehtonen at that price to be a backup

If theres any possibility of Bishop going to Dallas with TB taking a goalie back, we'd probably have to retain half their salary. Otherwise we would buy one out. I just hope Dallas doesn't overpay for Bishop if we do get him. Hes an excellent goalie and all, but the Calgary/St.Louis trade didn't really set the market high.

Just have to wait and see, but I sure hope Nill can do something.

Don't disagree...and like I said it would absolutely take a bigger package if he did. Merely going over the possibilities based on needs of both teams

If you add Bishop and Stamkos to this past playoff run, do you think that gives TBL the extra victory they needed to beat the Pens? If so, i'm holding on to Bishop for one more run. His ability to handle the puck would have greatly impacted the speedy Pens forecheck, and could have been all the edge TBL needed.
