See this is where I don't get your rationale.

A guy that was an Assistant GM that liked a player from his earlier days as a scout is absolutely going to like that guy when he becomes a GM. It doesn't just turn off because he works for a different team.

Take ROR for example. Murray liked him when he was the Assistant GM for Ottawa. He was able to trade for him in Buffalo. Should he have not wanted to trade for him because he liked the player when he was working for a different organization?

Now if he greatly overpays then you have a beef but getting on a GM for liking players from organizations he's worked at in the past is kind of counterproductive if you ask me.
