Such a great underrated player - GERBE!!!75PTS
People dont realize he consistently had ~50pts a season while shutting down the other teams top line. |

Could be... I don't think it will be us because we likely would have heard more about us being the favorite before this I feel like. If he's all set and ready to roll at 12 my guess is it's not us. I just love trolling Gerbe on this... - bluengold12

Usually the dark side is where I'm at but I regret to tell you Gerbe. In this case I've found the light! |

From 04 to 08 he played 279 games mostly as the 3C in a shutdown role and had 199pts. Prototypical third line center. |

I'm not saying he wasn't a good player or a good defender.
He was not a star and I still don't think he was really what you want in your Top 6. He had 56, 52, and 49 point season. 2 of those 3 seasons were right after the lockout when they were playing super fast and scoring more. Nothing else was over 44.
Dumont, Goose, Kotalik, Connolly, Grier, etc were NOT stars in my opinion. They were dudes that Sabres fans liked but nobody in the league cared about most of those guys and certainly not in 05/06 or 06/07 when we had our last best chance to win it all. Connolly was the next closest thing after Briere and Drury but the damn head injury cut him down. |

I'm impartial to him. He would improve our team no doubt, I just don't want another bad contract on our hands. I also want to go after more speedy players. |

Straight from Arthur Staple. Guy very well connected in NYI player dealings..
"Okposo’s contract length and cost may end up being seven years and in the range of $6 million to $7 million per season now that Steven Stamkos has returned to the Lightning, taking the unquestioned top forward out of the free-agent mix. The Sabres, who had been planning a whopper of an offer for Stamkos, are likely to turn to Okposo next — and Okposo, still close with former Islander and current Sabre Matt Moulson, has strong interest in Buffalo" |

06-07 GM poll said Hecht was most coveted player on the sabres that year. Shut down two way center. - ASU_Sabres14
He played left wing with Briere and Pominville that year. But yes, I always liked Hecht. |

Nobody said Hecht was a top 6 guy. I said he was literally the perfect 3C. Shut down the other teams top guy night in and night out. There were nights where Ovechkin wouldnt have a shot because Hecht was shadowing him. Guys like that get you to the cup. |

Yeah, my bad I misquoted. Gerbe was the one who said Hecht was a top 6 guy. I won't argue if you're saying he is a great 3rd line player. That is what I said before - if we would have had another actual scorer in the Top 6 and could have moved Hecht down to 3rd line, we might have faired better in those years in the Conf finals. |

Honestly I dont think our forwards were the reason we didnt get to the cup. I had season tickets that year and having to watch Janik and Jillson play top four minutes was torture. Injuries on the back end killed us. |

Stammer destroyed the UFA market by re-signing. Now Okposo is the big fish. |
