Disagree.... He's gotta' be first call when you need a 2nd round pick. - rugdnit
To be fair, the EG deal looks much better after seeing Hall traded straight up for Larsson. |

yup. Benning would be crucified if he made the Hall or Subban trades.

I don't agree with that rationalization.
The deal was done and may have caused Edmonton to overpay. If it was done in reverse order would you feel the same? Or if the oilers deal never happened? |

I was ok with the deal when it happened, and understood the need.
It feels better knowing that Edmonton overpaid, but they're rich (in talent) and can afford to overpay, so...
when they sign Lucic and Demers it will help Oiler fans get over it.
Hall for Lucic, Demers and Larson is easier to swallow. |

if they get the players they're expected to, they make the playoffs this year (don't think i've ever predicted that before).
making the playoffs for the first time in a decade will make the fans happy. |

Larsson has way more upside than Gudbranson.
In fact, Gudbranson could be another Girardi type that fizzles away and becomes useless in todays NHL. I hope not, but there is a lot more downside risk to Gudbranson than there is for upside potential. |

What difference does it make? The deals have been made so I thinks it's fair to compare and critique regardless order of consummation....... |

It seems to me that most of these deals would be interwoven. It just shows how high the market is on D. Amazing that Nashville seemed to get the best deal.
I much prefer drafting Juolevi than the EG deal, but to me at least the Hall trade made it more palatable. |

I agree for sure, but Hall is a bonafide top line winger. We gave up a prospect and a 2nd. |

I don't agree with that. Just because someone comes along and makes a more stupid trade, that doesn't make our trade seem less stupid.

Doesn't that indicate market prices are high?
Larsen cost more (but the Oilers could afford it) and Gudbranson cost quite a bit (prospect and a 2nd) |

Which would be a win if McCann doesn't have a long career in a top 6 roll. But if he becomes and 60-70 point guy, then we got bent over again by the cats. |

It might just mean Benning and Chiarelli have no clue what they're doing.
