Sven played on a lotto team which was going in a younger direction and was given every opportunity to succeed in Van
Connolly played on a very good Tampa team which was trying to win and then a Boston team which was pushing for the playoffs
If you swap them do you think Sven breaks out in Tampa or Boston ?
I'm not saying Connolly is better and I think Sven is more skilled but they are more similar than you think
Either way I was just making a point that the poster can't call one a plug when he isn't far behind Sven who is loved here - Redmile247
Anyone IMO is a plug when no room on the roster.
Impact 1/2 line wingers is what we need. |
|
|
|
Have the Flames sign him.
I don't want him taking up a roster spot.
Rather give Etem 1 last chance.
Vey had his turn & turfed.
Thats life for RFA/UFA's players trying to fit in. - Nighthawk
I'd take him on the flames if he is replacing a Stajan or Raymond contract ...he should be cheap |
|
|
|
Connolly had his chances IMO.
As for Etem its show me or bye bye - Nighthawk
How many has Etem had? |

I do agree ...they have enough projects that now it's time to pay a top 6 UFA or give homegrown prospects a shot - Redmile247
This is my thinking but term/$'s is very key going forward.
Next year is set up nicely for cap space but this year is VERY important
when it comes down to 1/2 UFA's signed. |

Fair, I am not calling Connolly a plug either. He deserves one more shot somewhere but I don't think Van is the right fit. I see Sven as having a fair bit more skill and he should accomplish a lot more in his 24 year old season than Connolly has.

On his last chanceππ
He will be the 13/14 F is my prediction.
If he figures it out then up to him or bye bye yesterday prolly.
Clears waivers & gone to Utica. |

Sven is alot more skilled and still has a higher ceiling, Connolly can be a solid two-way/power forward . - SRam19
Why is his ceiling higher ? Draft pedigree ? Ahl stats ?
I agree his is probably the more skilled

Bieksa for Sbisa. - thundachunk
Yes please!
I'm glad Benning at least took a run at trading for PK Subban... Does anyone know what was offered/asked for?
The over/under for average term and number of NTC's Benning hands out tomorrow is set at 5.5 years and 2.5 clauses.

Edmonton will crack the bank for him.
Writing is on the wall.
I still think he's what the team is missing, but i'm not crushed if he signs elsewhere and think he'll be a good fit for the Oil.
Hopefully we can sign a player of Lucic's ilk to fill the void.

Agree a top talent & IMO a bad trade by PC.
Never was impressed with PC a Harvard or not.
Tbh i think he is not too swift π - Nighthawk
Not like there wasn't any precedent (see Seguin - how did that work out?) to confirm PC is not a very good GM.
I can't believe that there wasn't a better deal out there (highly improbable that PC had any sort of extensive negotiations with all the other 29 teams out there - it just doesn't add up). Talk about a desperation move. This is going to haunt the Oil for years to come. Hall is arguably a top ten player in the league and is just coming into his prime). Larsson thus far has proven nothing, other than he is at best a top 4 defenseman. The only positive is, at least he's still fairly young.
Again, if I was an Oilers fan, I would be assembling the pitch forks and torches. |

Meh. It was a lopsided trade, but one that the Oilers can afford to make (esp after picking Pulijarvi).

Gross. If Vanek is looking at a limited market, you offer him a chance to reset his value on a 1yr deal with the twins. Then go after Brouwer & McGinn. |

Martin Gaunce Dorsett
Etem Granlund
Edler Gudbranson
Hutton Tanev
Juolevi Tryamkin
Sbisa
Juolevi impresses at training camp & its him/Tryamkin/Sbisa fighting for 3D pairing.
Prolly see him play 9 games & be assessed.
Fits in then stays if not then back to the OHL |

If Vanek then at 1m per show me contract without an NTC.
Then get Ladd at 3/6m if Eriksson falls thru & he wants to come home.
Room to sign Brouwer &/or Martin.
Thats 3 UFA's so that means a trade is needed prolly. |
