Not that I really care but I wonder what he found so enticing in Edmonton other than money. It has to be the only thing. That place sucks. |

Decent top 9. Big role to fill. can bring the playoffs back to the team that (similar to Boston) will respect the blue collar approach he brings.
oh yeah, and a boatload of $$$ |

Gross. If Vanek is looking at a limited market, you offer him a chance to reset his value on a 1yr deal with the twins. Then go after Brouwer & McGinn. - DrChristianTroy
Not a bad idea. After seeing hi in Montreal and how useless he was in the playoffs I question not the skill but the drive. |

I would definitely take a flyer on Vanek and a short term deal. Brouwer is another player I'd like the Canucks to take a look at; however, I have a feeling that he outpriced himself with his excellent performance in the play-offs (nice timing, indeed). I think Eriksson would be a good fit with the twins but you just know he's going to be looking for term - any overpayment is inevitable but it's the term that I'm worried about.
With respect to Lucic, I am glad that he seems to be out of the picture. At least the Canucks won't be saddled with a dead weight in three years time. |

Juolevi is not going to play this year. book it.
Sedin/Sedin/Sutter
Baer/Horvat/(UFA)Brouwer
Hansen/Granlund/Etem
Dorsett/Gaunce/Burrows/Rodin
JV
Edler/Tanev
Gudbranson/Hutton
Sbisa/Tryamkin

Decent but C depth is lacking.
A RW eg Eriksson bumps Sutter to 2C IMO
Larsen yet to be signed.
Pedan the same.
Ignored both til something gives is all.
Biega is depth as we stand. |

I agree he needs a year more in junior and then a year in the AHL. Plus I want to see how well he does without the likes of Marner and Tkachuk. |

I see Brouwer proved his worth & earned a 500k bump as a UFA on top of what was as expected to be his new contract that is. |

same with Vanek on a short-term deal but i'm sure a bottom dwelling team could/would offer more.
I don't know why everyone is sure that Lucic will break down by 31 years old |

I question his mental toughness. I think he could be an emotional rollercoaster. |

yeah, easy to move Sutter to 2C if required.
re C depth, JB said that they liked what they saw from Gaunce at the end of last season (thereby allowing them to not re up Vey).
I see Granlund as better placed as 3C and Gaunce has the size for 4C. Hopefully he can stick this year. |

Not the swiftest skater & see speed being the future.
In Boston/LA he could play the grinding game.
Elsewhere its all about the fit. |

He's already pretty much plateaued, it can only go downhill from this point. As someone else pointed out, the game seems to be more about speed and finesse and those are traits that aren't really part of Lucic's skill set. He is currently 28 years old and, with a 6 year deal (or seven as some are saying), he will be 34/35. Those last few years are going to be the issue for any teams that sign him. I realistically see him having 2 or 3 more good years and then a significant reduction in play.
I would rather have Eriksson, as he seems to be a much better fit (having played with the Sedins internationally). Of course, he too will most likely be looking at maximum term; however, he's proven there is chemistry with the twins so the signing makes more sense.
P.S. according to Pierre Lebrun, it looks like now the Canadiens are also going to be bidding for his (Lucic) services (I guess it would at least be a much needed distraction after the Subban debacle) |

We are that bottom dwelling team . We finished 28 th last year. If he has a good year he could fetch a high pick |
