Really interested to se how this Vanek to detroit for 1 year at 2.6 million ends up. This will be his last opportunity IMO. If he busts, he needs to go back to Austria and play professionally. |

P Kane sounded more like a bad decision to hang with a college chic that decided to cash in after a 1 night stand. It does seem like he's an alcoholic.
Kessel....TOR is just a mess. Their fans and media are more of a problem.
But yeah if a dude is a cancer, he can wreck a team.
I gave up on the NFL a long time ago. Lots of other things Id rather do than spend 4 hrs of a Sunday watching criminals get paid millions to play a game. - sammy87
No way Kane is an alcoholic. You can't play professional sports anymore with that kind of problem. Its too competitive and a drag on training.
Binge drinker certainly. Alcoholic implies that you can not stop yourself from drinking and it gets in the way of your responsibilities. |

I'm trying to remember the poster here who bolted prior to the season. He had a love interest in Matt Martin. He thought it would be a great move for the Pens to get him and ship Neal to the Islanders. - Oneonta Penguin
Wha?!
Did Rutherford say anything about Cullen or Schultz? I'd be happier if we could work on deals for both.
Hudler. We might get him. Just a feeling. |

I'm not a Steeler fan.
Sure, there are a lot of allegations that are found to be wrong. Look at the mess with the Duke men's lacrosse team a few years back. Stripper claimed something happened and those kids had their names thrown around in mud. Some of them didn't get a good sniff for jobs because of the publicity. And that turned into being a false claim.
However, I think when it comes to athletes, fans are more she is crying wolf than anything. Some of those allegations happened and guys like (insert stud athlete) got away with it. I would think its better to stay away from those types of athletes. The smart ones don't put themselves into position to even get socked with an allegation. I take things seriously regarding high character guys. - Oneonta Penguin
Valid. It's not a pleasant topic. Ray Lewis and OJ got away with murder. There's many sides to it. I just don't believe in the locker room cancer theory. I don't think one guy could ruin a room full of great guys and leaders. So the on-ice affect is minimal if any. Anyway, back to hockey... |

So past all the 6th/7th Dmen on two way deals... we grab anything else? |

We don't have the money for Hudler unless someone is moved. |

KHL is getting closer and closer to him. $2.6M is decent money still. |

Not saying that 2.6 is bad move for Detroit. Vanek is high risk, high reward type of cat. He hasn't done anything ion the last three years to make me say, yep, he is a good player. Always leaves you waiting for more. He has stolen a lot of money from other teams. |

Well then until you know for sure or personally know someone close to you who has been "allegedly" sexually assaulted, made to be a criminal themselves on the stand for all to see, and had there life nearly ruined, I suggest you keep your (frank)ing mouth shut. I'm sick and tired of people sounding off on matters they know (frank)ing absolutely nothing about. - errey12
I do know someone. That's what I said. In particular I knew the woman, who practically made a living out of it. It was pathetic.
Plus the whole Duke lacrosse thing that was mentioned is a public example.
Meanwhile, you act like YOU know that the allegations are true. But hey, keep swearing, that will prove your point. |

Haha I remember that. I actually thought there would be some GM that felt that way and give him like $4M. |

That's been my darkhorse...if he slips by today unsigned, I can see a one year deal on discount with us so he can chase the next big contract. |

Tyutin for $2M was OK for Colorado. If Gonchar never said anything that's a pass for us. I thought he'd be a decent pick up for the 3rd pairing. |

I think Colorado got Tyutin and Wiericoch for 3.4 million combined. |

I'm not a Matt Martin fan for obvious reasons, but that does take away from the Islanders' fourth line. Cisikas was extended for third line money, so you have to wonder.

I know...I'm far from a goon lover. But Martin is more effective at his job than most goons. Too much for a cap strapped team..but any bottom feeder with money to burn its not bad at all. Honestly I expected him to get WAY overpaid. - YouMeAndDupuis9
what is he effective at? |

Very good value right there. What do You think Schultz will command? I'd go $2M for him. |

2.6 is more than I would have paid for him. We are in agreement. I think the thing with him is Detroit didn't go full stupid and give him more than a year. |

I really don't know what Schultz will command. Don't have a clue. Trying to find the comparable guy that recently just signed as a bench mark. Did Pittsburgh sheltering him with minutes in the play-offs bring down what it could have been? Schultz is one of those tricky guys to figure out. He did look a lot better in Pittsburgh. However, do you have a good sample size to figure out what is fair, not idiotic?
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm more comfortable with him at #6 than DP, but we don't have the room. |

Well seeing how kuni is a 3rd line lw... Anyone can replace him at a cheaper price - nh4442
I usually let you alone because your comments make me think your a 13 yr old smiling with a Pens jersey on but Kunitz is still light years ahead of Rust and Sheary when it comes to playing hockey. I really don't think the Pens have any plans to move him. |

He can play the game a little bit for a goonish guy. Hits and forechecks pretty strong. If we had cap space, he's not the worst player. Hate the term. 4 years.
Sure he doesn't fit on this team, but there are worse players in the league. |
