So, who overpays for Lovejoy? My money is on either Boston or the Caps - cap1681
Caps love the sloppy seconds from Pitt. |

That's a good point, can sign pretty much anyone they please to ~$1M if they think they are an upgrade to any of Sundqvist, Wilson, or Pouliot to the minors. But in my mind, that pretty much means theyll resign Cullen and do nothing else.
I have a gut feeling though there is a chance Kunitz is moved today.
The Dupuis thing helps us out but I sort of think that rule should be changed. If a player is shut down (retired essentially) due to injury for an entire year, he should get paid but his salary should have no effect on the cap. Like what if Geno was the one in Dupuis' situation, why should we be allowed to go OVER the cap by $9M? It just seems like a weird rule. - YouMeAndDupuis9
I actually wasn't suggesting they could/should find upgrades for any of those players and then start them in the minors, I was more looking to pinpoint what they could actually spend without removing anyone from the current roster. All of the players I listed can be used as paper moves to get the team cap compliant to start the season so they can still add 1.3M-1.4M to the current roster without having to trade or send anyone to the minor to play. I'm not against them upgrading any of those guys if an upgrade is available and feasible but I'm more looking at 6-7 Dmen they can sign for 1.3M-1.4M and keep the rest of the players in tact, although it's likely some of that space is used re-signing Cullen.

Exactly one year ago today, the lines were:
Perron-Sid-kessel
Kuni-malkin-horn
Plotnikov-sutter-dupuis
Sheary-sundqvist-Bennett
Letang-maatta
Scuderi-pouliot
Dumo-lovejoy
What JR did in one year is truly amazing |

While I think it's entirely possible if not probable that Radulov has matured as he's gotten older, I do not think Montreal and their backasswards philosophy is an environment in which he can thrive. Poor marriage. |

A perfect example of why freaking out about roster construction at this time of year is just ridiculous. If I remember correctly most were pretty happy about that roster because Kessel was easily going to score 40 playing with Sid and may even push 50 goals, Plotnikov was going to get a chance to play with Malkin and was gonna be awesome and Pouliot was a stud top 4 that was ready to go.

Radulov apparently signed with mtl - nh4442
Radulov and Mike Therrien. That's gonna work. |

Kind of surprised Campbell signed for 1y-2M, I would have been ok with the Pens making that deal. Would have put them a little tighter to the cap than I would prefer but I think the reward could be worth the risk. |

If you took the cup winning roster and compared it to this one I would have put big money on the old roster being better.
Perron was still looking good at the time, Plotnikov we thought was going to be a solid player, Bennett we had some hope for, Dupuis was making a big comeback, Cole was viewed as a legit top 4 guy......no way i would have looked at a lineup with Rust, Kuhnhackl, Sheary in prominent roles and thought that roster was better. |
