Today DK reports(the guys that supposedly hate Pouliot) that Rutherford expects Pouliot to be a big part of the defense next year and he's getting every chance to play. This is the right move.

I don't think anyone doesn't think Pouliot should be a regular to start next season, at some point it has to be sink or swim time for Pouliot and the start of next season is the perfect time for that; however, many like myself who are not completely sold on him yet would feel better if they had a back-up plan in case Pouliot disappoints yet again.

Just saw Schlemko only got 2.1M/year, wouldn't have wanted him at the 4 year term but the cap hit was much more in the Pens range than I thought it would be.

nah they are fixing the ahl and giving us some depth. depth won us the cup. now we are adding more depth

Really liking GMJR's approach to the off season, the only real need the team has is a #7 defenseman who is insurance against injury or Pouliot struggling and they don't technically need that 7th man on the NHL roster, so fill WBS with upside guys and let them battle it out to fill out the overall depth chart. Only carrying 6 D on the NHL roster can be a good way for them to save cap space as long as they have enough options at WBS if needed.

With Boston signing and now having a lot of money tied up in Centers and only a few wings in the roster. They have to assume they are getting him. Tell him he can play with any of the 3 centers.

I'd guess the latter or at least creating backup options if Poulliot fails. But none of them have his upside. And WBS wasn't exactly loaded with prospects at D.
