I'm puzzled ! Wonder what Toews has to say about this, I am sure he would have liked Ladd, Brouwer or Lucic on his wing. Hell I am Hopin they are lookin at Matt Martin . - wonthecup10
All are UFA's so money would have to be moved. Landeskoug has a lower cap hit than Panarin seems will get, is as rugged as any of the above names, more skilled, waaaay younger (24 yrs old)and would be Toews' LW for a minimum of 5 years.
There can be no question if Landeskoug were Toews' LW his chances for another concussion go down at least 75% and would give Toews the most complete and skilled LW he's ever had.

If TVR is lost....it's a year away. Defensively, this team is leaps above last year already
Campbell already knows the team and able to play with Hjarll. Most importantly - he can get the puck to the forwards. Sveddy balls and dipsht Gustafsson NOT being in the lineup ever again while plugging in Camp and Kempny is a major plus for the forwards as well as the D. There is NOTHING worse as a forward than having Dmen inable to get the puck to you, and the Hawks are at their best when the stretch pass/D can do that
Keith-Sea
Camp - Hjarl
Kemp-Rozy/TVR
Defense no question....but 32 can't play 41 games...his legs wn't allow it.
Forward wise, they are razor thin. They have guys slotted way too high as Panik and Kruger are prime examples.
You also are filing in depth scoring roles with unproven assets who may or may not contribute, but can't be counted on consistently.
lets hope market prices come down, but lots of teams with lots of holes and MORE cap space to out bid Hawks for services.
The pressure right now on 19/88/72 to produce is massive......
Big upgrade/much better slot allocation there.
Also...I wouldn't be shocked if TVR is moved to either clear up space to sign lower level depth (and give Pokka a shot) - PatShart

Stan has GOT to add a Top 9 winger. IDC how good the D-Core is, they need more NHL-quality forwards.
EDIT: Right now their Bottom 6 looks more like an AHL Top 6 |

The money thrown around today is comical. Just imagine the number Panarnin is gonna come back with???
Staal gone
McGinn gone
Now its "Hope Its Hudler" Time!! - z1990z
JJ did warn us that the Hawks would stay out of the fray of "stupid money" when the Hawks have no such thing to spend.
As far as Hudler, or "savvy vet who wants to win", the Hawks should sit back and get the best guy at their price. I still think the Hawks could shuttle a big salary (AA/C) out early in the season if someone loses a C or G to injury during that ESPN hockey event this fall. |

Not sure what is or isn't out there, but Weise's deal in PHI is four years, $9.4M total, which if my feeble math is right, $2.35M AAV. - golfbard

Holland is turning into the prototypical GM behind in the times. The salary cap strategy GMs have blown by him like he was standing still.
He has not figured it out since the guys from the 2008 team have aged out. They have been slipping more and more every year |

Some crazy money being thrown around today...glad Stan is staying away from it. - DarthKane
Yeah, I have yet to see one with an impact player that isn't an overpay.
Maybe Backes is a worthy fit if not pricey.
Everybody wanst Jamie McGinn thinking he was gonna cost a quarter...he signs with Coyotes for 3.3 mil
Lucic signs a yr.forever.
Buffalo looks like they would have thrown too much money at anyone listening.
I realized Calgary wants to move up and be stronger up front but was that an overpay on Brouwer or what?
I do like Ben Lovejoy, but 2.3 mil must mean there was competition for his services...chew on that one...more than Soupy...
I like Fiddler but NJ gives him 1.25 ? and to me he can be more important than Fiddler...
and maybe the worst signing (is the 3.5 mil out of respect for his past accomplishments?) Staal ? I am not sure he is an improvement unless the wings he plays with are golden...
and the Rundblad buy-out is a weird one...

Still like my TVR for Maroon deal with EDM.
Love the Landeskog for Panarin idea, but will never happen. Feels to me like all of this timidity is a set up to make a re-sign of Panarin happen for McD and the PR machine, thinking that will put enough polish on the turd to keep people interested.
Here is to hoping a non-crippling trade or trades are in the works to round out the lineup. |

Hey Rainman...
defense is much better but a lot holes upfront...
by the way are you having a party for the Runny buyout... - DK002
Hey, DK.
Big time......What a colossal blunder signing that idiot in the 1st place. Not sure what intell they had or the bull headedness to keep him around after show casing he can't play in NHL. Oh well.....133K this year and 183K next year is fine by me.
They need a top 9 F(s) badly........ |

The D is better, but with impending expansion draft and massive amounts of NMCs TVR is/will be lost.
Teams that miss out on top Fs may outspend Hawks for lower tiered guys/depth guys and this team lost A LOT of that since April.
See what Stan does, but as of now....this team is NOT contender. Massive amount of holes up front and guys slotted way higher then they should be out of necessity. - SteveRain
I was just going to say that don't be shocked if they miss out on the playoffs next year. D is better than next year, and as much as it's a speed game, they've lost more than they've added. I'm not counting on the young guys to bring anything until they've actually done it. |

The way its going, we might see TVR go in a deal to bring back forward help. Or there is that possible CC to the Sabres rumor and who knows what/who would come back on that. |
