Duchene will be paid more than Trouba next year unless Chevy or Sakic are stupid.
Duchene is also the only thing the Jets would want, and you guys need defensive help badly. Grigorenko an Pickard won't be more than 3-3.5 million combined, and Burmi's only making 1.55. MacKinnon on the other hand... He will be pricey. - Rexypoo
To be fair, our defence won't be nearly as bad this year. Getting rid of Holden improves us a lot and people will notice. You can't have dutchy.. |

I have a soft spot for Colorado and Nashville, which is ironic because division. Get rid of Roy, and you're fine. Both my Jets and your Avs are in for a bloodbath in the Central. |

I like the Jets too, im from Manitoba originally so they have a soft spot for me. Preds are a fun team, now with PK, they are very likable with that roster (minus Neal).
Only way Duchene - Trouba deal works depends on what the Avs do with Barrie. If they move on from him and replace him with a RW help for the Top 6, its a lot of moving parts but they might be a better team with those 2 deals.
However just moving Dutch for a Dman, they open up a huge hole in their offensive, cant be taking 1 major cog out just to repair one portion of the roster. They dont have the luxury of doing that right now |

finalyl have time to comment on the Avs UFA moves.
They said they weren't going to make a big splash, and they lived up to their word. Small safe sound moves, nothing crazy, but nothing harmful either.
I like them since they are just a bunch of small low risk moves. Now just sign 1 more fwd (Pirri?) for cheap and I think they can just move onto getting their RFAs under contract.
Feel like they have a move or 2 left later on, since I assume the current line set ups will be
Grigo Mack Dutch
Landy Soderberg Rantanen
Comeau Colbourne Iggy
McLeod Mitchell Martinsen
(?)
EJ Bigras
Beauch Barrie
Tyutin Zads
Wiercioch Gelinas - DDM-Coga
I like the idea of pirri. One year deal prove it type deal.
I like the d pairing to start the season... would like to see Wiercioch in tyutin spot. I feel like a it's his to loose.
Do you think compher or any other rookies besides rant has a shot this year? I feel like he could push for an opening night spot or at least the first 9 games.

Trouba for Duchene isn't a trade either team NEEDS to make. I'm thinking about the Jets speed, Little's 31 goal year as a RW, and Duchene's faceoff percentage. Would you guys even be comfortable with Soderberg as your 2C? You should've thrown Barrie at Taylor Hall and come back for Trouba. |

Soderberg is a respectable 2C for the time being, if he was thrown into that role full time. He probably is going to be back lugging those minutes when the Top 6 will be
Grigo Mack Dutch
Landy Soderberg Rantanen.
Soderberg and Landeskog are really solid together and are as good as a shut down line as the Avs can have. Throw another big body in Rantanen in there that is a offensive threat. Will be a scary line if they play them consistently |

Who was the LW when they had MacKinnon centering Duchene? |

It was either Landeskog or Grigorenko, both have chemistry on that line |

Wasn't it Landy, then they put grigo with them when Landy got suspense then kept duchene with grigo when Landy came back?
I'm curious to see how grigo grows this coming season. I'm hoping for 15 goals and 25 assists assuming he plays with duchene |

It was the 9 Line to begin with, Landy was up there and yup the suspension happened, then they flip flopping happened but Grigo and Dutch played more often after that.
I think the 3 of them (Mack, Dutch, Grigo) all have solid chemistry and should play most of the season together |

It'll be interesting to see if Grigorenko can shake off the whole being a bust so far. |

I look at grigo and zads having clean slates when they came to the avs. Grigo will continue to grow. Zads too. Probably drafted to high but give them 2 more years in this system I think they will turn into solid pros. Grigo I think is being taught how to play the full 200 of the ice, maybe won't turn into a point per game player but I think when hitting his stride a solid 50-65 point player. Lilet a soderberg. Just needs more time. And playing with duchene you saw how good of a player he is. His passing was unbelievable at times and his defensive game grew as well. Aka the subban steal that lead to the late third period goal. In a couple years are top 9 is going to be wicked awesome! |

I wouldn't really call him a bust. He barely got a chance in BUF, playing what i'm sure was a bottom 6 role. He has already vastly improved in one season over what he did with parts of 3 in Buffalo. 9 out of 10 skill players are going to digress or plateau if you just stick em with a checking line, then throw them in the doghouse when they don't produce. At the very worst he is a decent 3rd liner. |

I feel that's what his growth will yield. A solid 2nd or 3rd line player. I do expect his point total to be the biggest increaser of the team next year. If he can hit 40 I think that's a solid win for the team |

yup, still RFA. And he is due for a new contract when there is 1 year of Varlys contract left.
Good deal Avs, they can make their goalie of the future decision in the next 2 years |

Absolutely the best outcome for the Avs could hope for. A very good back up/goalie of the future and a great cap hit for the next two years. Gives us options in 2 years with Varly and trades as well. |
