Didn't Greiss start almost every playoff game for the islanders? I think he is their new starter.

I'm with mhp, but I think it was intentional. I think they wanted to create a situation where Ullmark had competition going into camp, but it wasn't too far out of reach. If we sign Enroth or trade for Pickard/Greiss, he walks into camp knowing he's going to the AHL again.

Zatkoff was the original target, is he THAT much better than Anders Nilsson? Zatkoff was back and forth between the NHL and AHL over the past 3 years as well. They didn't necessarily want to get the best backup available...if they wanted a good one I'm sure 1.7M could have went to CJ for another year seeing as he went to a team that just traded for their starter.

Because the rules on Goalie padding are changing this year and taller goalies will have an advantage in their equipment. Murray mentioned that was going to be key for Lehner so as tall as Anders is it must be true for him as well.

It doesn't have to be from today to give you an insight into the fact the kid isn't signing here before August 15th. He wants to cherry pick the best spot for him. It's annoying, but if any of us had the opportunity to pick wherever we wanted to live for work the next few years we'd probably do it too.

I don't know why everyone is acting like Lehner has a long track record of being injured. He had one concussion and then a bum ankle last year. Maybe you could say he seems like a slow healer, but he's not really "injury prone".

Whether it was two days ago or two minutes ago, he was pretty clear that he intends to go to FA and make an informed decision about where he plays. There is no way he waits all this time since he was drafted to miss out on that chance. That doesn't mean he won't talk to Murray in the meantime. That's what he bought with the third that went to the Preds - a conversation.
