It doesn't have to be from today to give you an insight into the fact the kid isn't signing here before August 15th. He wants to cherry pick the best spot for him. It's annoying, but if any of us had the opportunity to pick wherever we wanted to live for work the next few years we'd probably do it too. - Pierceme69 wouldn't you think he already knows where he "wants" to play ??? why the stupid drama??

I really think he has a few teams he is willing to play for, Buffalo included, and he wanted to see which team came out of the draft and free agency as the best fit for him to score a ton of points so he can get paid big money after his ELC. |

Anybody think Jiri Hudler might be a relatively inexpensive, short term veteran RW for them to sign? |

I'm pretty sure it's only a one year deal given his age. 18-21 3 years, 22 2 years, 23+ 1 year. I could be wrong. But Nelson only signed for one year. More like 8 games, but you get it. And he was 23 when he signed. Same age as Vesey.
Edit: He might come in at 2 years, because I'm not sure when the cut off is. Vesey just turned 23 on 5/26. And Casey Nelson will be 24 in like 2 weeks on 7/18. |

What do you mean by "relatively inexpensive"? He made $4M last year while scoring 46P in 72 games.
Edit: To get the 4 year $16M contract he scored 50P in 81 games. So it all depends on what you mean by "relatively inexpensive" I don't see him taking much, if any pay cut. I think he'll probably only sign for 2-3 years so I think that means he'll sign for about the same yearly salary. |

I think that's the deciding factor. That and that's what he said. lol Something to the effect of looking over rosters after FA and seeing where the best fit was.

This next labor negotiation is going to be ugly. All the big name FA and Stamkos signed these deals with all bonus money. This is going to create a divide in the PA as well. Why do the big shots get to keep all their money when some poor schmuck making "only" $1M has to pay 16% escrow on his entire contract when ROR, Stamkos, Okposo, and to an extent Lucic, but he's only at half bonus, only have to pay the same dollar figure because their actual salary is the exact same. I would be super pissed if ROR who makes $11M next year only has to pay 16% of $1M and I had to pay the same 16% of my entire $1M salary.
Note: The actual escrow amount may be different. It was 16% for 14-15 I believe and I'm too lazy to look it up in the CBA at the moment. But the principle is the same regardless of the actual amount of escrow. |

If this is correct, that's not true. It says that escrow is paid on bonuses. What the bonuses do is make the contract basically buyout proof since only your actual salary is bought out, not the bonuses.

I briefly looked at the section of the cba they referenced but legalese gives me a headache. |

Yes. And there hasn't been much talk about him but a Flames fan was on yesterday and said how he would fit in with us, provide some leadership and help the kids. I'd take him on a 2 year deal at 3 per. |

Just for sh$ts and giggles I went over and checked out Tanner's blog. Two absolute gems:
- Oilers would've made the playoffs last year if not for the worst string of injuries the league has ever seen.
-Leafs have "almost no chance" of missing the playoffs next year unless they don't play Matthews. |

This gives sh!ts and giggles a bad name. Tanner is one degree of separation from Garth imo.
It does seem the East will be very tough this year, although you never know. Florida and Tampa to me will be extremely tough to play against. |

Any Vesey roomers? - Der Kaiser
His dad and the entire Pegula family flew around the world on a hot-air balloon, bought all the chicken wings they could find and had a closed-door meeting with Bill Clinton on the tarmac of an undisclosed airport, and proceeded to attend a Trump rally in the VIP area, after which Vesey told reporters exactly nothing. |

A couple reports out there say the Sabres are trying to acquire Nash, but they would want Girgensons + in return. Nash seems to be plan B if Vesey doesn't sign. Nash has a 7.8mil cap hit and the Sabres have over 14mil in cap space. He is under contract for 2 more years. Would you take a run at Nash?
Kane-ROR-Okposo
Nash*-Eichel-Reinhart
Moulson-Ennis-Bailey/Fasching
Foligno-Larsson-Gionta
Deslauriers
Maybe switch Kane and Nash, but not a bad forward group |

Murray and his you must be this tall to start in goalie rule really pisses me off... Enroth is a solid reliable back up goalie who can step in when Lehnher inevitably gets hurt again... For a team that's trying to make the playoffs this year we're really putting all our eggs in a basket with holes in it.... - bluengold12
Enroth would have been fine. But is everyone angry because we gave up a pick for Anders or because he hasn't done much? If it's because he hasn't done much I would like to remind people of last summer when we had this same conversation about another former islanders backup. You know the same guy everyone wanted to sign 3 days ago |

Johnson at least had a solid year with Boston before signing with the Islanders |
