For the time being, I don't want to see Hansen involved in any deals. He simply brings too much to the table and is extremely versatile. I would of course like to see if we could snag Kane - the guy has a lot of talent but needs to shake those personal demons. I agree that, if anyone could do that, it's Linden et al. There aren't many better examples of class acts then Linden and the Sedins. I believe that he could be turned around with a better atmosphere and situation. That would mean a 30+ goal scorer for a significant term. It really is sad to see such a waste of talent due to off-ice issues, I think a starting point of Sbisa + conditional 2nd round pick (as has been thrown there) could get the ball rolling. - Zogg

I'm glad Dan is gone, it was time to move on. That being said, he was a great Canuck and an excellent ambassador for the Canucks and Vancouver. Best of luck in Dallas - CanuckDon
I for one, am sorry to see him go, as I felt that he still had a few years left in the tank (I know he didn't have a great start to the season and then was hampered with that horrific facial injury, but he did get his game back near the end of the season). However, this is a business and I can understand the Canucks management wanting to move forward with a younger line-up and different core. I think Hamhuis is a class act all the way and has been a fantastic Canuck. I wish him well in Dallas and hope that he has a chance at the Cup at some point. |

Good player, teammate and person.
Just looking at the personnel on the team now, what a turnover...
just talking in general, some criticize JB for not doing a proper rebuild, but I think we got one without the intentional tank. if we lose, we lose, but the club is moving forward, trying to make the playoffs.
I'm fine with this. |

It would be have to be cheap. Really cheap. I agree that Linden/ Sedins may be able to straighten him out. He needs to stop being such a douche or he will be out of the league in 2 years |

I agree, in today's NHL you definitely need to be pro-active and aggressive in pursuit of improvement (or end up in a no-win situation like the Oil were forced into, trading away significant assets with nominal return). I haven't liked some of the decisions Benning has made, but he's certainly changed the make-up of the team in only a short time and it has been mostly for the better.
Given some of the crazy deals we've seen GMs give out the last few days, it's good to see that Benning hasn't succumbed to the insanity. The Eriksson deal was a decent signing (probably one of the best in this year's Free Agency madness). Yes, the term could have been shorter but this is what the market is unfortunately dictating. I think Eriksson will be an excellent fit, most likely playing with the Sedins, who he's already shown chemistry with internationally (which already mitigates some of the risk involved with this addition). And we'll have to see how the depth signings pan out, but from the looks of it, they seem to be solid additions for minimal coin and terms. |

I think with Eriksson, you are getting proven offensive production.
The grit should be a little easier to find, I would have thought, but we will see, I've been wanting to see more in our lineup for some time, but guys have to be able to skate and not be a liability.
I want to see Eriksson on a line with Bo or Sutter at even strength. Eriksson can play with the Sedins on the PP.
I am still a little worried about goals and just general chemistry/balance of the lines with young players and playing styles. |

Problem is that this can't happen. Eriksson signed specifically to play with the twins, said so in an interview. Vrbata and the Sedins were reported to not get along as linemates and he was moved as a result(unconfirmed, but believable). You also go with a line that is proven to have chemistry, and will have played together for a month before the start of the season. They will be playing together in Sept for Sweden. |

The headline of the day is Landeskog for Trouba wouldn't Sabres be wise to do Landeskog for Ristolainen so they have Landeskog to replace Kane when they ship him to us for Sbisa++ who replaces Ristolainen just throwing it out there! Haha

Honest question why would we trade Hansen for Kane.
20 goals good leader hard worker great.character for
Douchebag 20 goals at more than double the price.
Forget the names look at production. If Erickson plays most of the season with sutter or horvat and still scores then Hansen can play with the twins and we have 2 decent scoring lines. The hard on for kane blows my mind. - The_Kuze
First off, Kane is 24 and Hansen is 30. That speaks for itself.
Second, Kane has a higher ceiling and as a douchebag still has better stats then Hansen and brings more shots and hits.
Finally, because while Kane could be a risk, the commitment is the same at 2 years currently and while it's more money, Kane could grow up in 2 yrs to be a first line layer like initial potential dictates.
It's pointless to keep Hansen because we won't win a cup with him or the Sedins here. Kane would be resignable if he improves and still be 26 when that time came. It's a no braimer imo if somehow a deal could be made without sacrificing the future.

Exactly, and it appears he wasn't a bad locker room guy in Buffalo like he was in Winnipeg. His off ice issues are why Buf wants him gone. This also shows that it could have been his clash with Byfuglien that caused him to be seen as a bad locker room guy in WPG as the team would side with the Buffoon over a kid. |

Sad but true.
Unless we fluke our way back to the cup final with the Sedins contributing on the third line in 2-4 seasons?

I strongly feel the Sedins will resign for two years for minimum half their current salary for a 3rd line lesser role. It makes sense to have them mentor guys that assume the role even after the fact. I don't see them being all that effective and I hope if it does happen it will be for no more then 3 million per year but I would hope less.

I doubt it because he's not playing for us, we don't have to spend the money to replace him. |

but his salary is 5.8mil and fla only pays 5m of it, we pay the extra 800k. Wouldn't we get cap relief in this case? the relief(as i understand it) is based off of pay, not play. If you read this, want to look into it Carol? |
