Problem is that this can't happen. Eriksson signed specifically to play with the twins, said so in an interview. Vrbata and the Sedins were reported to not get along as linemates and he was moved as a result(unconfirmed, but believable). You also go with a line that is proven to have chemistry, and will have played together for a month before the start of the season. They will be playing together in Sept for Sweden. - Retinalz
Does WD know this? Whenever JB is asked about lines, he says WD is the person to ask.
I have no idea what the exact details are of the promises made. I am sure he will end up with the Sedins.
but if you put Eriksson wiht the Sedins and you shut down that line, I hope our other lines can pick up the slack. |

We still need another impact winger outside of the first line.
As good as Horvat and Sutter will be if healthy for a full season the revolving line juggling of wingers most likely is not going to change with WD.
Sounds to me like Eriksson isn't a tool like Vrbata so hopefully he stays on the Sedin line and Hansen is where he belongs as a 3rd and 4th line utility guy.
Plus I'm sure WD is on Aqua-feenies speed dial as per Eriksson on the Sedin line...don't think Willy wants to (frank) with that...lol |

And he didn't even have a very good play-offs - was exposed frequently in terms of his lack of speed and agility. Only in Toronto I guess |

but his salary is 5.8mil and fla only pays 5m of it, we pay the extra 800k. Wouldn't we get cap relief in this case? the relief(as i understand it) is based off of pay, not play. If you read this, want to look into it Carol? - Retinalz
All it saves us from on LTIR is a recapture penalty. If he were to retire now we would be hit with 8.5 million in cap spread over 4 years. LTIR would make it so we could take it to arbitration to prevent getting the cap hit or at least minimize it.

Careful could see Yak, Fayne 2017 2nd for Kane!
Banning better get going!
We don't want the Oilers to have 3 douchebags! |

It is hilarious . All the cap space , hopes , and Draft Picks from tanking , they walk away with Mathews Polak and Martin. |

Eriksson specifically mentions playing with the twins as a factor for signing in Vancouver. In fact it was the twins who convinced him to sign more than anyone else. I am pretty sure WD knows where he starts the season. |

Let's hope. I understand telling players they will have an opportunity to play with the top players but making promises sounds a little limiting...
maybe I am looking for some drama but I picture the team struggling and other lines being shuffled and if the top line is broken up, all hell is gonna break loose. |

I'm not too worried about it. The way I see it WD rolls with it or rolls out. He will be the guy to go.

Same, and I am not suggesting that WD needs to play Eriksson with the twins every game, every shift for the next 2-4 years. But while they are on the team together, that will be his primary place to play. |

Personally I don't see WD making the same mistake twice. It is silly not to think it won't be the three Swedes playing together |

Overpayment. Yak and Kane probably have same value right now. Fayne is a cap dump the Oilers want to rid themselves of, but I doubt the difference is a 2nd. Maybe a 3rd. |

Exactly. In the middle of a game if things aren't working, splitting them up may get a goal you need, which is fine. A coach that doesn't try new things during a game is a failure. But they should be starting on the same line every game. |

I think they're just going to do the same thing this season and sign a bunch of free agents on one year deals to get more picks and hope to package up more guys Van Rymsdyck to get different pieces moving forward. |

Without having paid any attention to the later rounds, I have to assume they got quick a few other assets in the system. It may not be next year, but they have to have gotten heaps better. |

Oh, and they added Anderson. I'm not totally sold that he's earned his contract, but he's got to improve their goaltending. |
