But you guys are closer to the cup than we are?

Still doesn't mean we are good.

time will tell, last draft wasn't supposed to be one of the deeper ones...
- hillbillydeluxe

But they managed to deal half the team for picks. Even a blind squirrel can find a nut and 18/19 year olds develop beyond expectation all the time. Surely they'll have a gem or two coming through in another couple of seasons.

And don't let it seem like I'm bullish on their chances, I'm just saying they should be in the lotto again.

Oh, and they added Anderson. I'm not totally sold that he's earned his contract, but he's got to improve their goaltending.
- micah555

Yeah. Any goalie would be an upgrade over last year. Looks like they are taking their time with the "rebuild" and not rushing it

The owner doesn't want to rebuild, simple as that.

I strongly feel the Sedins will resign for two years for minimum half their current salary for a 3rd line lesser role. It makes sense to have them mentor guys that assume the role even after the fact. I don't see them being all that effective and I hope if it does happen it will be for no more then 3 million per year but I would hope less.
- WhatTheNuck

I see the twins signing 1yr deals at hometown discounts & playing as long as they want & still be effective. Maybe in the 4-5m range.
once a new 1st line is established they would be a fine 2nd line for 3-4yrs is my guesstimate. if a 3rd line role idk about that & would speculate they would prolly retire.

It wasn't a strong draft. No one is talking about our later round picks or any other teams . After pick 20 it wasn't a cliff , it was a canyon

I could see them signing based on team cap. I doubt they want to handcuff the team from signing young guys, or making the team better, but also not wanting to sign 1mil deals. I could see them sign for 3 mil each with a promise the team spends to the cap to compete.

14 of our 23 man roster this year will be under the age of 27. I think that qualifies as a rebuild.

Exactly. In the middle of a game if things aren't working, splitting them up may get a goal you need, which is fine. A coach that doesn't try new things during a game is a failure. But they should be starting on the same line every game.
- Retinalz

I agree with this.
Furthermore JB knows we need depth & his job to get WD the personnel to roll out 4 lines. After all WD is his hiring & knew he rolls 4 lines.

Well they already have the money. They have publicly stated that they only want to win as a Canuck. That is how dedicated they are to the team. When they do retire, not only do they get their numbers retired the next season, but they likely get offered jobs within the org to remain Canucks.

Look at EDm , Tor ,Buff, Carolina , Arizona , they have been at it for years and still miles away. I am not sure a total tear down is the answer

Not a fan of the leafs off season really aside from Mathews. Liked a couple kids in the draft otherwise meh and didn't really like signing Martin. Hate signing Polak.

IMO a total teardown is along & arduous adventure.
That said with 31 NHL teams I cannot see it working out.
I am more inline with the current rebuild on the fly due to the fact attracting UFA's & making trades is from a position of strength.
Drafting & building up our depth & the farm is the key & so far we r doing just that.

no guarantees with any approach.

I thought Micah was trolling a little and I followed...

honestly, I like the direction we are headed in. as long as we keep our firsts or somehow trade them for youngish high end pending rfa's, we'll be fine.
